Thread: Quick update: Click right analogue stick to get out of camera locks

I can't believe we struggled with that for so long and it was as simple as clicking an analogue stick xD Incredible. Btw what controller input tracking program do you use Shade? It's really nice.

Thread: level records + cut scene skip?

Started by: shade_theshade_the

The Cutscene Skip was mostly just created for making it potentially more viable to run in Marathons, it only skips certain pre-rendered cutscenes which for some ILs wouldn't have any affect on time between using it or not. So it seemed a bit irrelevant to create a category for a mod that was mostly just made for a specific use in full game that doesn't translated across the entire IL board. Especially since no one used it for their full game runs anyways and we eventually removed it as a Full Game category just so we didn't have a bunch of empty categories. It saves maybe 15-20 minutes across a 3 hour+ run and only skips like 4-5 cutscenes. The rest can't be removed without crashing the game so it's more of just a cosmetic "Hey lets make this more friendly on potential marathon viewers" than a mod that can make any serious upgrade to the run.

For now ILs should generally be done without the Cutscene Skip mod. They're short enough it's not really a problem. If you run Full game with the mod let me know and I'll reinstate the Leaderboards for you on that end though it will probably be considered a Misc category still. Just because it's such an inconsistent mod for what it actually helps with. If we could have one that lets you skip any cutscene it would immediately be on the boards for every category and IL but since it's just a few it's not really a priority.

We've actually reached out to Dontnod a few years ago about a potential patch to allow cutscene skipping and they said they would love to and want to add a feature like that but that it was up to Capcom at this point and Capcom doesn't seem to want to put anymore money into the game sadly.

Technically windowed borderless would be slower since you can't properly alt tab and grab the windowed header to save time at Borley. Whether it should be banned or not though is another matter. Accepting any sort of mod become a slippery slope. We'll see what the mods say though.

I've removed the cutscene skip category for now just because literally no one has ran it, if people do I'll add it back as a misc category.

PC version is allowed, it's just really glitchy(and not in a good way) and bad and doesn't even have faster loads than console. I know Ecdycis has ran on PC.

Just out of curiosity why is the DLC which you can currently buy banned? I get preorder only since people can't get it anymore. Just curious, why a straight up ban instead of a variable or misc category? Is it super broken or anything?

I mentioned this like 2-3 years ago when I tried to learn it but the community back then just didn't care about new runners and was barely even active at the best of times. I honestly just assumed that's how most people were doing it so consistently because I know personally I cannot mash my finger fast enough to do it normally. It's just something I can't do. It's something a LOT of people can't do.

Also, the game is designed to allow two input devices and to seamlessly swap between them, that is something the game is designed to do. It's less like nitro or turbo and more akin to plugging in two gamecube controllers in a gamecube or two NES which is actually used in various. Games like Catherine that have 1 Player 2 Controller categories or 4Sword adventure which uses a gamecube controller and an advanced at the same time. A lot of games on console have abuses using multiple controllers.

Also this greatly opens the path for more accessibility from runners. You've had 2 new runners in 2 years. One of which used this after I told them. That's not a good track record. And making it easier and more consistent to learn would not only most likely bring in more runners but also help current runners improve their times with consistency. This game is hard enough to learn even using the keyboard glitch. I had to give up after around 12 hours of never getting the underwater graveyard wrong warp.

You can say it wont be rejected or accepted on popularity. But that's basically what saying it's not notable is. Notability = Popularity or worthy of popularity. The reason I was given for it's rejection is literally popularity related. And again, I don't care the run was rejected. I said before I accept that. What I don't like is HOW it was rejected based on a ruling that was never even publicly made available at the time of submission. I'm not trying to get the rules changed. I'm not trying to get the run accepted and trying to make a case for it. I'm trying to say that rules should be public. There should be disclaimers. Transparency to how game submissions work.

It also doesn't really have visual novel segments, it's a platformer with sections of dialogue. If it was rejected for being a visual novel it would say "we are not currently accepting visual novels" Or at least that's the response I've gotten before. I'm pretty sure in extra information I said it was a platformer as well. If you go the the game page I had linked on submission the game clearly says "hack and slash your way through" and show controls for slash attack, magic attack, jump and movement. Right away clearly. It's very clearly not a visual novel and was not rejected because "It looked sort of like one" Or if they did skim and miss all of that then they aren't doing their job right. Simple as that. Also you can get banned for submitting rejected games repeatedly so no I wouldn't just "resubmit with more information" unless it was clear it was because of X reason. I can't ask what X reason is though because the mod who's name I don't have gave a vague reason based on popularity and wasn't actually clear about it. And again I'm not trying to get it accepted at this point so I wouldn't do that anyways. I just want the site to be better and more clear about how it operates.

@Liv See all I would want is a single line like "Runs may be rejected based on moderator's discretion despite meeting these requirements" Or something. Like just some sort of heads up that there even is subjective decision making behind whether a game is accepted or not.
Because when that's not clear and you get a "You're game just isn't good enough" or "not popular enough" It just kind of feels like someone is fucking with you for the sake of it. And not like it's being properly moderated. I can't even see which mod did it to even ask like "Is it not notable because there's not enough runners? Can I resubmit if I can link like a bunch more?" Like you can't even get feedback for why it was rejected because it's subjective to a single mod and it's just vague. And if I did try to resubmit with links to multiple runners and that wasn't the reason like I assumed I could get banned.

And I'm certain more people are going to get upset and frustrated at this in the future which is why I just want people to at least know it might happen to them. It just feels shitty to wait a week to just get "not good enough" despite making sure it's up to the publicly requested standards that you've followed for like 3 years of using the site.

So yea that's my feedback on this. I just think there should at least be AT LEAST some vague line about your game being rejected based on mod discretion even if it meets the requested standards. Just one line, doesn't need to be a whole explanation or write up. Just something. Anything.

@MelonSlice @Habreno It was not a web game, it was not a visual game. It fully met the rules. It was rejected for not being notable. I'm saying if you have a rule such as "can reject a game for not being notable." It should be public knowledge and be added to the rules list. It is relevant to this thread that I want the rules AKA The site updated to reflect how it's being ran.

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Di_P0TaUYAA6ers.jpg

You can see the rejection message here. I just want the rules to be properly reflected on the site. I'm not arguing it's rejection. And that's why I put it in the site feedback thread. Because my feedback for the site is to make sure the rules are clear and up to date.

Please update your rules for game submissions. I had a game rejected for not being notable despite notability not being a rule. If you're going to enforce arbitrary stuff like this that's based entirely just on moderator discretion at least put it somewhere on the rule sheet so people know. It's a waste of my time and yours if I go through following all the rules and steps to submit a game that meets all the criteria needed to get a leaderboard for it just to have it be rejected for a rule that isn't even made available to the public.

That or if it's mod abuse then reprimand that mod or something.

Really weird that that happened since my run still shows on my page but not on the LBS. I had a few questions before I resubmit though because I didn't find the rules clear.

What's the difference between all three? Is Any% all Strongholds but if an AI beats another stronghold you don't have too capture? And then All Strongholds you do and 100% capture all fields?

I'm sorry the rules really aren't clear to me "defeat all AI enemies" to me is the exact same as defeat all the strongholds.

So when you kill parts of the extra bosses they drop these light blue puzzle pieces. You need to pick up those for the last boss to spawn, I can't remember the exact number to spawn him but if you pick up all of them I think he should always spawn during or right at the end of the miniboss that spawns from the bottom of the screen and slowly pans upwards. The mini-bosses spawn on a timer after death so you want to grab them as soon as possible.

Hi, I was looking at learning this game on the Switch but all of the warps are explained with PC keybind. I was wondering if anyone knew the equivalents IE Menu Atk Magic or the exact Switch buttons. Or if it's even possible to perform the warps on the Switch at all. If not I guess I'd be learning warpless lol. (Which I think might have been their initial question as well, not is it allowed but can you even physically do it or is it patched out?)
