Alright everyone whatever you do be sure to delete the evidence of the abuse if you moderate a board and surely don't let companies like Best Buy, Hotels.com, Squarespace, Omen as well as Google (since they provide the ads) of what's going on on the site, because then src might have to do something about this abuse.

or go to the windows search and search for run and type in appdata then it's Local\BadGuysAtSchool\Saved\SaveGames

and I delete both files in there.

There's really no definitive controller that's 'the best'

Liquid and Baconman previously used Playstation 2 controllers before switching to Switch Pro's
Cyther who used to be a top contender before new strats were found used a Gamecube controller
A lot of runners I know (including myself) use Xbox one or 360 controller's.
There are also a fair bit of successful runners who use mouse and keyboard like ksfq, ducbob & orchlon

Whichever controller you prefer or have laying around to be used can most likely be used for the game with a USB/Bluetooth adapter and some software.

Additionally minor optimization, after firecracker principal do the gurney glitch and go talk to the bullies with the gurney glitch then go straight to the lake, saves about 10 seconds.

Skipping the baseball bat saves about 16 seconds for me on my splits, 13 on getting it and the rope and 3 because the animation for punching the car is faster than the bat swing animation. The car takes 10 hits with fists and 10 hits with the bat so yeah skipping bat is fast.

My friend who found shark glitch was doing some stuff with "rocket jumping" although his strat was taking the lighter and lighting the car that spawns in front of the school on fire and launching out of that, he consistently got in the water for shark but with the ragdoll it ended up being slower, since he went further away from the shark than when we take the fire truck to it.

Also I forgot to mention, the shark glitch also works on any object you interact with such as nerds (which isn't particularly useful in the run but still neat) and the gurney.

You can skateboard back with the shark by throwing the shark on the ground, then going up to it and pressing E and tab at the exact same time and selecting the skateboard. Entering the pool with the shark glitched like this won't pass the mission so you need to go to the nerd spawn outside the pool in "throw a nerd in the pool" and pick up the nerd normally to get the shark back in a state where you can throw it in the pool. This strat saves about 15 seconds

the new firecracker the principal strat (which I haven't done in one of my runs yet) is after buying your items from the shop you death-warp, throw a firecracker at the ceiling in the nurse's office and it should pass the mission. This strat saves about 5 seconds.

Requesting a removal of "The Speedy Simpsons Mod" ( https://www.speedrun.com/shar_the_speedy_simpsons_mod ) the mod only changes the names of the missions, reduces the timer to make it slightly more challenging and changes the font of the menu. The world record of the game is from the creator of the mod and is the only run in the past 3 years. I mod the base game of The Simpsons: Hit & Run and we have started to add mods that change gameplay under our banner but this mod changes nothing about the gameplay of the game from the base game. Additionally the speedrun.com board mod isn't active in the speedrunning community and hasn't been on their speedrun.com account for almost a month and the mod is no longer available to download publicly.

Thread: Time Skip/CPU Manipulation Rule Change June 10 2019

It has been decided in favour of creating new subcategories for the board that revolve allow this this glitch and to preserve our current boards as they are now without this glitch. Variables won by a majority.
20 to ban this trick.
43 to add it as a variable similar to PC and console are now.
1 to allow it as is.

With the new subcategories the no time skip variable will be default so if you visit speedrun.com and search The Simpsons: Hit & Run you will see the non-time skip category first.

It has been decided that JoyToKey is allowed to use this exploit, you can set it up by using an unmapped button on your controller and setting it to the left mouse button. The mod team will not be able to verify that you used your actual mouse instead of JoyToKey so everyone will be able to do this.

The mod team will be working the next day or two to add these variables to the main board as well as the category extensions.

Continue to enjoy the current categories, enjoy the new ones and thank you all for participating in the poll.

There is a PS2 beta from July 2003 floating around somewhere, but that has the near final product since it's only 3 months before release. There is a high likelihood a Gamecube prototype exists but there's no links or anything with it.

The most notable thing with the PS2 beta is this hellish intro cutscene .

Going to be honest with you, if you don't know where the stuff is or can't remember, practice memorization on them on individual levels, make yourself notes with this livesplit plugin ( https://www.nightgamedev.com/sgl ) or run another category.

100% is probably the hardest category just due to memorization if you play another category you can get better acquainted with the game and understand what the notes mean. If you want to try to run just 100% go ahead I don't want to stop you, but if I were in your shoes this is what I would do just trying to get more of a feel of the game and the memorization will come naturally.

Timer either starts when you hit new game (or yes if you have a save loaded) or alternatively there is a community save for PC runners that saves after the first cutscene or you can make your own on console, but if you choose to do this option set your timer to start at 39.34 or on PC with the autosplitter it should automatically start at the correct time.

I won't argue for or against running the game, but if you enjoy it or feel you would enjoy it I would say yes.

I think 60-80 fps is generally accepted to be faster but also if/when you get good enough you might need to up your fps a little bit to get the OOB's in level 7

Thread: Timing Change For ASM, NMS/W, Any% and All Tasks NLR Feb. 11 2019

We are implementing changes in the final timing for All Story Missions, which would also affect No Mission Warps, Any% and All Tasks, in order to make the timings more consistent when compared to.
Whilst the original timing, when it ended as the final cutscene started, was good at the time of conception. Its usefulness has waned since the autosplitter itself has become more and more diverse with the settings in conjunction with new categories.

Therefore the timing for ASM, Any%, NMS/W and All Tasks will end after the game finishes the mission. (see screenshot for exact frame)

The autosplitter settings for Autotopsy III have been changed to reflect as well as the option now being enabled by default for when you start up. Please make sure you check your settings are correct and accurate.
We will also not be changing the times already on the board to reflect this as this is a negligible change time wise.
