That invite says that it is invalid or expired. Oh apparently it just does that if you don't actively have discord open, cool.

Thread: Simple 2000 Series Speedrun Discord

Started by: RodGRodG

Howdy, me and @MASHMASH started up a discord for Simple 2000 series speedruns since we noticed there isn't one for basically any of them yet. The plan is to have a hub for anyone who runs games in this series. I've made some channels to talk about Demolition Girl since I thought having a place to strategize would be helpful.

Here is an invite to it https://discord.gg/C5g44CsG , it's a 7-day invite but I'll update it to a more permanent one this weekend

Thread: Supermod banned?

Started by: RodGRodG

Well I put as the rejection reason, not spam. If this was an automated ban, it happened well after I initially rejected the run and Amei was not notified. This is also not a documented feature anywhere as far as I can tell, and if it is I'm not sure why site staff are okay with mods being able to get users site banned.

Maybe it should be considered that an automated system shouldn't be able to ban a mod, let alone a super mod, for matters occurring within their own game. Either way Amei is still banned when he shouldn't be. Losing a super mod when we are about to make decent sized board changes is rather annoying.

Hi, it seems @Amei has been banned for some reason. We assume this is related to this run submission: https://www.speedrun.com/na/run/zx63568z

To someone not familiar with the board this might look like spam, but its a regular submission that has a place holder video. The rejection message should also clearly show this wasn't a serious issue, and we were simply waiting for him to upload his VOD.

Amei is a Super Mod for Automata and we talk between mods very regularly. I'm not sure what site rule was broken but a temp-ban seems like a bit of an overstep here.

Thread: Announcements and Changes

Started by: RodGRodG

As with Drakengard 3, I'm making this new thread so that there is a place on this site to announce and discuss changes. Most of the talk will happen on Discord, but I'd like to keep a secondary record here.

First off, I've changed the rules to allow for emulator runs of the game. With the current number of runners this game has, I see no reason to place any barriers to entry. Emulator runs have their own variable at the moment (similar to how Nier does it). I prefer this method over having PS2 and EMU listed next to each other.

Second, I have added a guide which consists of my notes on Neurotik's 2:05 run. It has the general route and some select notes, but still needs some improvement.

Lastly, I've added the Drakengard Speedruns Discord to the page. This is the same Discord server being used for DOD3 which is run by @MASHMASH (and me). Smaller details about rules and runs will be discussed on Discord first, and videos/streams will be linked there.

I have posted my notes on Neurotik's run as a guide. It has the basics of the route, but can and will still be improved upon. Any routing discussion will likely happen in discord.

Emulated runs are now allowed for Drakengard. Discussion will happen in discord to decide where the runs will be placed but for now they will be listed next to console runs (there are currently no emulator runs submitted).

edit: I've made variable for platform. Emulator runs will be listed separately but always visible.

@DaravaeDaravae I didn't know I could, I've sent him one. Didn't expect him to become active again after so long, thanks for the heads up.

I'd like to request super moderator for Drakengard. The moderator @speedwerdspeedwerd has been very inactive, having still not replied to me from back when I requested moderator on Drakengard 3 (see https://www.speedrun.com/the_site/thread/dueac/43 ). My reasoning for wanting moderator is the same as for Drakengard 3 (continuing to grow the community, etc.).

I would like to also request super mod for the Drakengard series. Right now I have runs for the two games that are added, and am planning to run Drakengard 2 soon.

@elainespencerelainespencer did you ever get a guide going for the run? I was planning to take notes from NeurotikN3s run before doing runs of my own.

Thread: Question on emulation

I'm looking to get a run of this submitted soon, and am planning to post about becoming a mod here. I think emu runs are a obvious addition. They are allowed in dod3 albeit hidden by default. With a game as old as this, I don't see any reason to not allow emulation.

I'm making this new thread so that there is a place on this site to announce and discuss changes. Most of the talk will happen on Discord, but I'd like to keep a secondary record here.

Recently I took over as moderator after @KerngesundKerngesund stepped down and @speedwerdspeedwerd was inactive. In the time since there have been a few changes to this page.

First, there is now a Drakengard Speedrun Discord server which is led by @MASHMASH and I (mainly MASH). The hope is for it to be an easier entry point to the game(s) and serve for more casual conversation.

Second, I've uploaded a save file which has maxed out everything, including the bloodstained intoner garb. I plan to add details on usage soon, but it's not too complicated. I've also made a copy of Kerngesund's [A] route guide which I will keep unmodified and in the original guide for now. Any changes made will be put under a different link in the same guide.

Third, we are looking to have a functioning discord bot within to help with general things and useful functions. At the moment the bot is working but is very bare bones while things are being worked on. Once it is at a point where it will be useful, it will be online 24/7. Fingers crossed.

Last, there have been talks of adding IL runs soon. Hopefully that will get fleshed out in the coming weeks. I'm hoping that IL runs will lead to more optimized routes for the full game, as well as a way to be involved without committing multiple hours.

If you need to restart a level is it OK to go to the portion you failed at or should we require that the whole verse is restarted? Ex: A solider falls out of map during a lock in fight and the first part of the verse was a camp sequence. Can I abandon and go back to the start of the part or do I need to restart the verse? Mainly thinking about NG+, but this can happen for NG as well.

Personally, I am leaning towards restarting the part. I don't see any merit to going through camp sequences again, and it can cost a ton of time.

Hi,
I am requesting to become a super mod for Drakengard 3 https://www.speedrun.com/drakengard_3 . I had 2 runs sitting for just over 2 months, until I managed to talk to @KerngesundKerngesund (former mod) on twitch. He approved my runs but said he didn't have time for the game/speedrunning anymore so he was stepping down as mod. I reached out to @speedwerdspeedwerd, the only current mod/super mod, 8 days ago on twitch and he has yet to reply. Speedwerd has never had any activity in the game, and was last online 11 months ago. I can provide the chat logs with Kerngesund through discord if necessary.

I'm requesting super mod as I think it would be helpful to have for trying to grow the games popularity (something I really want to do). If it is deemed unnecessary for me to become a super mod, I'd like to follow with a request to become a mod on the same grounds I've requested to become a super mod.
Thanks.

I always mash start once gameplay ends, so it might just be that and luck. I do remember I was changing around voice packs and stuff as well before that run, so I thought that might've had some effect.

Yeah after playing on actual hardware basically everything but the input inversion happened routinely. One of my first PS3 runs did have the house skip occur, so it might be worth looking into since it saved an easy 45 seconds at least. Anyone know of any leads on why this happens?

I....I dont know why I never thought of playing in lower res for better frame rate. Does that actually work? I've been streaming using a HDMI capture card and a handy hdmi splitter which strips HDCP, but boy the frame lag is way worse than the emulator. Though, since I beat my goal time in my last run I've been planning to play more on the emulator than the PS3.

Not being an official release is a good point. I think allowing emulators but making them a separate category (or not really competitive with official PS3 runs) might be a good idea to make the run more approachable to newcomers since it would lower the barrier to entry. I know I don't have the hardware to record my PS3, but streaming an emulator is super easy. I don't think I'd be trying to run the game if I couldn't easily record and stream.

As for issues running the game, I did do a complete A run last night on an emulator, and I ran a practice A run 2 days ago. Here is the run I did yesterday on RPCS3. There were 3 real problems I had:

1. Controller input sometimes went reverse. I don't fully trust my bluetooth XB1S controller I got second hand, but the reversing input thing might be an emulator issue with xinput. This only happened a few times, and wasn't really a big problem.

2. The Three fight had an large amount of lag, and after beating Three I had a weird overlay burned in until the next cut scene (this was only graphical though). See 1:47:12.

3. Mikhail's fire attack sometimes did the animation but no fire came out and no damage was done. This was the only gameplay bug I noticed, and I'm not sure if it ever happened on my PS3.

Apart from those 3 things it was a good experience. Upscaling to 1440p made the game look better, and my loads were also way faster (but this is an issue for timing...). I was planning to redo this run (without my DLC mistake) today, so I'll see how the game continues to hold up.
