Woaw that was way more job than I thought! People have a lot of obsolete runs but it was kind of fun so go through all the progression! Thank you! I really love the result, I hope everyone will be happy with it. |

Hey fellow runners, the LB will be a bit messed up for the next couple hours but don’t worry, things are just being reorganized. Thanks for your patience. |

Forum: Contra Thread: The main Any% and the slower US version Started by: RemzRemz |
1- For Any%, at the time of writing, the rules says that only the NTSC and J are allowed! But the Japan runs are obviously not since they goes to another LB! That is not accurate. 2- The Any% should include Japanese version. 3- The Japanese Version category is banning US version and there is absolutely no need to have a category that bans the US, it is just a bit different and slower. We should create categories in every game to ban every slower versions? 4- When differences are so small, it just feels wrong to actually go for both times, and filters are usually used for that. The easy fix for this would be to correct the name of the categories to : |

Usually when an any% category feels uninteresting for some reasons in a given game, another category is made. Not necessarily changing the whole definition of what is any% in general. In this case it would be Any% coop, no gameover. |

In other games where the runs were done historically on the US version, it took a bit of time, but eventually runners switched to Japan for any% when faster. It makes sense to keep a US only LB when the runs are significantly different but when the gameplay is identical like in Contra, or when the difference is really not significant at all, usually it’s best practice to just use the filters for regions. |

In my opinion, if 2 players work together do achieve a fast time, it’s a coop run. The only problem I see with the LB is that there is a Japan only category, but it’s the same game, only a bit faster between levels. The Any% that bans Japan runs should be “US only” and Japan only should be just Any%. This really makes no sense. Even worst, at the time of writing this, even the rules for Any% includes Japan as being ok (that makes sense since it’s called Any%) but Japan runs are being put on a separate board and they are not accepted in Any%. So if you don’t agree with me about the categories, being Any% and Any% (US Version) please adjust the rules accordingly. Facts are that the Contra Any% wr is currently 9:31 and the Contra Any% US wr is 9:34 no matter what are considered the “main” category. |
Forum: The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past Thread: Submitting another runner’s run Started by: RemzRemz |
I had a “last” discussion on this matter with a moderator. Here are the two sides summed up: The issue : Wqqqqwrt’s runs (some wr) are not on the LB. My opinion : it’s a mod decision that leads to the omission of wrs and Wq’s run. (Runs can’t be submitted by others even with runner’s agreement and even if there are obsolete runs already on LB under the username.) Mod’s opinion : Wqqqqwrt is allowed to submit his runs to the LB and nothing prevents him of doing it. So there is no issue. He IS the only one responsible of the omission. |

@ChristosOwen Of course, that was for the NMG S+Q LB. And This is not true. He just didn't sumbit but he IS ok with it. Edit: He has multiple 1st place times now not on LB and multiple obsolete times still on the LB. |
Forum: The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past Thread: Submitting another runner’s run Started by: RemzRemz |
When I first got that answer coming from a mod, I though that the run was probably a well known cheated run or something. My bad but I’d like to clarify this for others. The wq run is assumed legitimate and it is not on the LB because there is now a rule on the LB that prevents users to submit runs from other runners. Wq is not submitting the run but he is NOT against having it submitted. So, if the LB is missing a WR, it is not because he doesn’t submit, but because another player can’t do it anymore by the rules put in place. The run still exist and is assumed legitimate. |

There is a very good NMG S+Q run that is not on the LB:

It will be allowed. However, if it turns out that there are significative differences between the original console and the Game & Watch Gallery 4 version, a seperate LB will be created. |
Forum: Zelda (Game & Watch) Thread: Why Pica Pic Emulator is banned. Started by: RemzRemz |
I really want to allow it. It seems at first glance that it might be faster during the transition between levels but if there is too much difference maybe there will be a separate category for G&W Gallery. |

I tested the Pica Pic emulator, and right from the start, among other inaccuracies, I got the tomahawk in the first room which is NOT possible on console. On Level 1, the TH is always in the second room, right path. Everything runs way faster than console. On second room, you can get a potion which is also impossible on console, and so on... |

Personally, I would have put the individual AS games on All-Stars page in Misc. categories, but I guess people prefer it the way it is right now. |

I notice that an All Five No ACE as been added and that category feels like what people agree for All Five Any% Runs (SMB1 Any% + LL 8-4 + SMB2 Any% + SMB3 no WW + SMW 11 exits). I highly prefer to have both Any% and Any% no ACE than to have only 1 any% category. But, in my opinion, I would have just stated no ACE in rules for the Any% and maybe wait for an ACE run before creating another category If someone is actually interested in doing that. The reasoning behind stating no ACE in the rules instead of the category name is that All Five Any% already need some arbitrary rules (some people used to run all games without resetting during credits and that kind of stuff. I think an ACE run would need different rules for the ending of games because a runner could possibly program the ending for all the games without touching the axe in smb1/LL and without entering the door in smb2/smb3. The actual rules would only allow a SMW credit warp and it's even more arbitrary. Just my opinion. |

I asked the same question on smb3 forum and got this answer by Kirua: "The physics, glitches (except wrong warps) and almost every stage are identical. The (almost) only difference that matters for speedrunning is in loading times, so we thought it was better to keep everything in the same LB and treat it as different versions (you can filter by platform and all if you want). Like typically, you wouldn't have a LB for each language version of a game. I think smb1 and smb2 have relatively big gameplay differences in all-stars that led to the creation of a different LB." |

Hey there, I was just wondering why SMB3 is the only game on All-Stars that doesn't have its own LB like smb1, ll and smb2. Thanks! |
