Yeah if it gets really simple to make, there might be one in the future. The loading screens should at least be easy to detect, so that's a big plus here.

That would be down to human reaction and therefore not accurate. I'm afraid you have to do this after the run. BUT as long as your route is the same every run, your total load times should always be the same so you can just subtract this set amount of loads from later runs.

You can cut out the loading screens in a basic video editing software or you just time all the loading screens in your run manually and subtract the time from your real-time. There is no convenient way to do this unfortunately.
The part about not being allowed to pause your timer manually is mostly to ensure that people don't pause the game for 3 hours mid-run and then come back to continue where they left off. There is no pausing in speedruns. Loadless times can only be determined retroactively (for now).

You can change the difficulty between cups in the run itself. That was one reason to merge those.

Any version that isn't the most recent one. This is only in regards to the strats that are being used though. So if a run of an even unpatched version is still conform with the current version (i.e. doesn't use any skips/glitches that have been patched in the current version) then that run can still count as Current Patch. Old Patch is anything that can no longer be done with the current version of the game - be it on a completely unpatched 1.0 version or the one from last week - they're both Old Patch.

Thread: Leaderboard merging

Started by: PeteThePlayerPeteThePlayer

It's time for a quick announcement:
Since we've had various polls to decide the look of the leaderboards we have come to the conclusion to merge the Nitro-Fueled mode runs with the Classic mode runs. The poll was quite the split, we can admit that, but all the moderators of the game - as well as various people who've put major time into NF - unanimously agree that the differences between the NF mode and the Classic mode do not warrant a category split. In fact, NF runs are virtually the same as Medium difficulty runs on NF. With that split out of the way, it is easier to have the traditional Any% and 101% categories as main categories for the boards, which an overwhelming majority seems to prefer according to a previous poll.
Difficulties will no longer be separate categories either. Runs will not completely lose their designations though, a mode variable will be there which will allow you to select either Easy, Medium, Hard or Classic according to your setting for the run. Understand that this change is to be implemented to have a more streamlined and less cluttered leaderboard and to make sure it is also easy to navigate through it.
The subcategories for Current Patch, Old Patch and Lap Skips will still be in place, the latter two being miscellaneous ones.
If you have any questions about any of this, feel free to ask.

Thread: Embargo on runs

Started by: PeteThePlayerPeteThePlayer

Recently people have been constantly asking if we'll allow runs of CTRNF from day 1. The short answer is no.

In order to figure out the load remover, in-game requirements for rewards and categories fully, we would all need to play and analyze the game first. This is what we shall do for the first week or so. You can speedrun right on day 1 but we won't accept any submissions (yet) and the run will be rejected later if it doesn't adhere to the rules that are not quite established yet. That's all for now. An update when submissions will be taken will be posted here and/or in the Discord server probably.

It only took forever but the Zeebo is now indeed a platform on this site and can now be selected for this game (in case anybody ever does a run of this on Zeebo)

Isn't All Missions basically 100% though? Unless you mean All Story Missions (or whatever they're called in-game)
That's something I can get behind a lot more than just a plain "any% glitchless" deal.

Well isn't it lovely that you can do both of those things in any%? So convenient!

Well on controller you do it by keeping X pressed which is the jump button (or the confirm button for menus). So try keeping whatever key is bound to jump/confirm pressed to get the same effect.
I myself haven't played on PC yet (let along on keyboard) so I can't say if that'll work though. Just my best guess.

Thread: Request platforms here

Started by: Lighnat0rLighnat0r

I would like to request two platforms which are both relevant for this game: https://www.speedrun.com/cbnk3d

The first would be the Zeebo, a Brazilian home console released in 2011.

The other is Symbian. While strictly not a platform, it is the OS under which Nokia phones ran. Problem I see with that one is that we also have the N-Gage as console already which also runs under Symbian. So I'm not entirely sure how to handle that but at least something needs to be done about that. I figured Symbian would be the most fitting, just like iOS and Android are a thing.

Just run the game without glitches if you want. You're not forced to do all (or any) strats. But that doesn't mean it'll become its own category, especially in a game that hardly ever gets any runs to begin with.

As for aesthetics, the only feedback I'd give (but it's totally up to you guys) would be to:

A ) Cut off console labels for the covers (at least when there are multiple versions like 1FM having PS2, PS3 and PS4) as I previously mentioned. It makes it look less like a PS2 exclusive game, I would argue. This is less relevant for actual platform exclusives (like CoM or Days) but could be implemented there for a sense of unity on the series page

B ) Edit out company logos/find versions of the covers without them. Just looks better in my opinion but might be completely redundant. I find some massive logos to be somewhat distracting sometimes but that could be just me.

Well you could also just put the consoles as main categories and then go from there instead. Kinda similar to how the Final Fantasy games do it I believe.

Well I'm not a KH runner whatsoever (I do follow the KH speedrunning community a lot though) so I dunno how relevant my voice is in this discussion but at least I have experience with leaderboard modding and merging or seperating different versions of the same games (I haven't watched the video just fyi):

I believe that merging boards is always a good idea if we're talking about the same core game. 1FM and 1FMHD are precisely that whereas CoM and Re:CoM for instance are not. Essentially I'm under the impression that a remaster, if not titled differently from the original, should share leaderboards with the original. So without being too pedantic, therefore excluding the "HD" in 1FMHD, it should share boards with 1FM (the Re:CoM board is a good example of how all other boards should look). As for categories that can only be applied to certain versions like the Plat Trophy: You'd have to set seperate subcategories for every single main category on the same page to make sure that the correct subcategories are in their relevant spots only. The console split will be maintained either way with seperate subcats for each respective console. I would even go as far as merging JP and English versions in all of the games and maintaining the split with just subcategories only. That's my personal preference of course.

Game covers are also a lot better and aesthetically pleasing than just the logos. The only thing I'd have to criticize there would be cutting off the console labels. That way (if a merge happens) the KH2FM cover, for instance, wouldn't just be a PS2 cover but a more neutral one as it houses the PS3 and PS4 versions too.

If it were just about my plan would be to merge the following:
KH1 (J) and KH1
1FM and 1FMHD
CoM (J) and CoM
KH2 (J) and KH2
2FM and 2FMHD
Days (J) and Days
BBS (J) and BBS
BBSFM and BBSFMHD
DDD and DDDHD

Quick info, just so everyone is aware: Re-timing of all runs has been completed as of yesterday (14th December 2018). Major shoutouts to the NST mods (tocaloni1, cameronvengenz, Riko) for doing virtually all of the manual retiming.

And as such all the retiming has been done. All runs without videos have received reasonable averages or loads based on runs from other categories by the same person instead. Rules also have a little note for how loads are defined.
