You can at least count on an any% category haha. If there is enough difference in online and offline then I'd definitely say you'll see the category. Right now no one knows anything.

There is definitely a difference between the two. RTA should be used as a means of breaking the ties for IGT being once people get clean runs it'll be the only way to determine more precise times.

@Japiapian There just hasn't been much of a demand for something like this much less the trials. This is the first time anyone has suggested such a category. I'm all in for new categories if enough people want them. For now I see no immediate reason to add such a category. Though that shouldn't stop you from posting these suggestions with videos of your runs. No telling what that could spark up.

Thread: Statue dial pausing

Started by: morelanmorelan

This is absolute trash that most people find this acceptable. This limits the skill of the speedrun. I just can't understand why everyone wants to take the easy way. To allow pausing for buffers and what not I understand considering the game is slower on some consoles. It doesn't take quick wit to pause buffer the beginning zombie in RPD. But to pause the in game timer while you're still figuring out a puzzle? This doesn't feel dirty to anyone? What a shame. The ONLY way I'll use it is when someone else does and I have no choice. Otherwise this should be frowned upon.

Thread: 120FPS PC Runners Approach on G1

Started by: OneCoolManOneCoolMan

So I looked through the forums and guides but didn't see anything on how G1 is defeated with the knife only on PC 120FPS. It's pretty self explainatory but I would like to hear from some of the PC runners. Where is it you are are aiming when knifing G1 and why? I'm guessing it's to hit him at most 3 times but want to be sure. I'd like to try it on console but need to know how and why it's done this way.

I think there shouldn't be any pausing at all to be honest other than to check times or to buffer load the door before Ada's segment for console. For some reason that door gets hung up. That's just my opinion though. Like, pausing to get your nerves together or look at notes aren't really challenging. The point of speedrunning to me is to take it all on at once.

Edit: But I understand having this option may be more inviting for runners who take it less serious.

I would have cut the medallions out of the video but then someone else would have stated it was missing the medallions, haha. Both medallions were pretty even from what I could tell. Either way it would have been pretty much the same. Remember, the rng in these runs are pretty well balanced and helps with a clean path to the Secret Room. It won't always be like this. To see how close these times are I may give thought to doing the West Office and then after Marvin go up the left stairs to grab the Lion Medallion. Seems like that could be the fastest way possible. No sense in back tracking for it.

I suppose when I get bored enough I'll show the time differences with a comparison video. I've found taking the Library route to be faster. By how much I'm not 100% certain. But I do know by taking the West Office you're backtracking for the Lion Medallion at the most. I was just curious if the PC players had their reasons for avoiding the Library

Can anyone tell me why PC takes the West Office instead of the Library after grabbing the Spade Key? I've tested both routes and they are around the same time reaching the waiting room without grabbing the Lion Medallion. Also, the times for reaching the Secret Room were faster taking the Library. Both routes were tested with no missed shots, no sloppy movement, and good medallion grabs. All the PC players and random drop ins tell me the West Office is faster but I can't wrap my head around it being they back track for the Lion Medallion. Just wondering if there is a explaination as to why the PC route is preferred by most. Please don't reply with just "It's faster".

Has anyone come out with a detailed explaination on how difficulty adjustment is handled in this game? If not can anyone explain to me what they do know? Apologies if there was already a forum post about this.

I thought it was placebo for a while as well but in comparison it's impossible to ignore. Speaking mostly on PS4 standard and PS4 Pro. With the lower frames it just seems like things can be noticeable slower. Things like bringing the gun up and shooting, movement in some areas (especially that damn beginning convenient store), G1 fight since it uses a knife, and at times causes menu input lag. These are things I've seem to notice. Not making excuses for not being able to get a sub 57 on console. Just saying that it'd pretty much take a perfect run on a standard PS4.

I may be mistaken then. There is an option in the game that lets you set the frames to 120?

What ever happened to speedrunning a game on vanilla? Uncapping frames just to cheese bosses or make it easier to dodge enemies? Wanting to allow mods. Wow, guys. I'm happy to be playing on console where we actually have obstacles to overcome and bosses to figure out. I'm not trashing runners that's done 120fps or saying they don't have challenges. I just don't know how anything is allowed outside the game's settings. I feel PC should have always been 60fps max and 120fps on extended categories. Altering the game in any way just feels dirty.

@Soulless_Persona Yeah, it looks incredible smooth when it comes to performance. Also seen a few others stating that Leon seemed to be going slightly faster. May just be the frames being smoother though. I guess that settles it then. I need to upgrade to a Pro. On the note of saving frames, do we know if '98 Leon is saving frames. I've been told it does and I've also been told that it doesn't.

@CursedToast I understand. I'm just saying I may be losing time due to choppy gameplay and slower movement due to frames being so low considering the game doesn't take fps into equation. Meaning if I had a PS4 Pro the runs would be somewhat faster since it'd be on more consistent frames. Can't believe I'm saying this but the game is making me want to get a Pro just to see if the times would be faster.

Ok, so I'm losing time with frames. That sucks. So the final time doesn't include time spent on the inventory screen?
