Must not have advertisements in Valhalla then.

Gonna go have to find some way to pick up Asatru and go out valiantly in battle, I guess, if I ever want to move out of this dumpster. Stripey would understand.

Can confirm it still shows up on my side. It's showing up right now, in fact. Seems to shove itself in whenever I reload a page.

It remains on the all games page for me, loading in every time. It's not a caching issue.

I used to play Fortnite all night. No sleep! But ever since SR.C told me to try Severed Steel for free, I am addicted. This game is a game. It has graphics. It has characters. Best of all it has a loot box mechanic to enhance my experience even more by adding another exciting chance based layer to the game! Two week ago I spend all my money becoming a pro Severed Steel runner. Now I live in a dumpster outside a McDonald’s with free WiFi. At night I sneak into the McDonald’s like my new raccoon dad, Stripey, taught me to do so I can charge my laptop. Through the cracked screen I am still perpetually amazed by the graphics of this game... they look so real! Thank you @SpeedrunComSpeedrunCom, you truly changed my life!

Thread: Favorite SNES game?

Started by: weedvoirweedvoir

I'm no good at picking favorites, so I'll go ahead and list one of the unusual ones I know of: Eien no Filena/ Eternal Filena.

While it's not without it's own flaws and general strangeness, this game is amazing peculiar. While the re-interpretation of classic JRPG combat by use of weapon skills is interesting, the story is what really makes it stand out. It touches upon a lot of topics and themes no game of the time period would ever bother to touch, and is quite progressive for the time period. Said things are also sadly why it likely never got a localization- I doubt the majority of the game's story would have been met with Nintendo of America's approval.

Weird, obscure, and off-the-wall games are just kinda my thing. WoweeSmug

Never gonna say bump
Never gonna bump a lie and bump you

Your heart's been bumping, but
You're too shy to bump it
Inside, we both bump what's been bumping on
We bump the bump and we're gonna bump it

Thread: What headset do you use?

Started by: FloppyPantsFloppyPants

I have a long habit of trying to stretch out the lifespan of my stuff way longer than I need to, and my history with audio equipment is long. From putting up with frayed wires or having to hold my head at weird angles, I will use them until I finally get fed up with them.

That being said, I'm using old Sony Dynamic Stereo Headphones, of model type MDR-V150. They're presently held together with electrical tape and the plastic stuff over the muffs has been gone for so long I prefer it just being the raw cushioning material. These got put on a shelf in rather good condition when I was like, 13, (the muffs were already worn bare though,) and had better ones to use. Had to pick these back up about 2 years ago and they're still holding strong.

These things probably have over 5 years of use on them, and they're like 12 year old headphones. Honestly, if I get a new pair, I'm just gonna find another version of these.

I was thinking about why so many in the radical left participate in "speedrunning"

The reason is the left's lack of work ethic ('go fast' rather than 'do it right') and, in a Petersonian sense, to elevate alternative sexual archetypes in the marketplace ('fastest mario')

Obviously, there are exceptions to this and some people more in the center or right also "speedrun". However, they more than sufficient to prove the rule, rather than contrast it.

Consider how woke GDQ has been, almost since the very beginning. Your eyes will start to open.

Returning to the topic of the work ethic...

A "speedrunner" may well spend hours a day at their craft, but this is ultimately a meaningless exercise, since they will ultimately accomplish exactly that which is done in less collective time by a casual player.

This is thus a waste of effort on the behalf of the "speedrunner". Put more simply, they are spending their work effort on something that someone else has already done (and done in a way deemed 'correct' by the creator of the artwork).

Why do they do this?

The answer is quite obvious if you think about it. The goal is the illusion of speed and the desire (SUBCONSCIOUS) to promote radical leftist, borderline Communist ideals of how easy work is.

Everyone always says that "speedruns" look easy. That is part of the aesthetic.

Think about the phrase "fully automated luxury Communism" in the context of "speedrunning" and I strongly suspect that things will start to 'click' in your mind.

What happens to the individual in this? Individual accomplishment in "speedrunning" is simply waiting for another person to steal your techniques in order to defeat you.

Where is something like "intellectual property" or "patent" in this necessarily communitarian process?

Now, as to the sexual archetype model and 'speedrunning' generally...

If you have any passing familiarity with Jordan Peterson's broader oeuvre and of Jungian psychology, you likely already know where I am going with this.

However, I will say more for the uninitiated.

Keep this passage from Maps of Meaning (91) in mind:

"The Archetypal Son... continually reconstructs defined territory, as a consequence of the 'assimilation' of the unknown [as a consequence of 'incestuous' (that is, 'sexual' – read creative) union with the Great Mother]"

In other words, there is a connection between 'sexuality' and creativity that we see throughout time (as Peterson points out with Tiamat and other examples).

In the sexual marketplace, which archetypes are simultaneously deemed the most creative and valued the highest?

The answer is obviously entrepreneurs like Elon Musk and others.

Given that we evolved and each thing we do must have an evolutionary purpose (OR CAUSE), what archetype is the 'speedrunner' engaged in, who is accomplishing nothing new?

They are aiming to make a new sexual archetype, based upon 'speed' rather than 'doing things right' and refuse ownership of what few innovations they can provide to their own scene, denying creativity within their very own sexual archetype.

This is necessarily leftist.

The obvious protest to this would be the 'glitchless 100% run', which in many ways does aim to play the game 'as intended' but seems to simply add the element of 'speed' to the equation.

This objection is ultimately meaningless when one considers how long a game is intended to be played, in net, by the creators, even when under '100%' conditions. There is still time and effort wasted for no reason other than the ones I proposed above.

By now, I am sure that I have bothered a number of you and rustled quite a few of your feathers.

I am not saying that 'speedrunning' is bad, but rather that, thinking about the topic philosophically, there are dangerous elements within it.

That is all.

The issues here and with every previous Elo update could have been solved with community beta testing, and/or running the potential changes past the users first. People have been crying out for Elo to provide better communication since they took over, and we've hardly had any of it. Every update has been effectively radio silence until you drop another pile of changes that sets the forums on fire.

For a company that's always saying it's trying to promote a "community", you sure seem to be intent on excluding us from everything.

Yes, we can be aggressive at times, but that's because this site is important to us, and we're frustrated with how you're handling this. I assure you that we're capable of communicating normally. If you really have read any of these threads, you'd be able to see that.

If you're worried that we can't come to a consensus on potential changes, because surprisingly we all have differing opinions like normal people, here's three options that didn't take me any time at all to think of:

1. Make features able to be disabled, for users who don't agree with them.
2. Just make a community bloody poll, and roll with the most popular answer.
3. Get your act together so this kind of stuff doesn't happen every single update you make.

(If you opt for option 2, please note that we would also want the poll designed in such a way to avoid manipulation on either side. You know, like a normal poll.)

But because I know you won't read this, I'm just going to post a toucan now.
