Thread: A few questions

Started by: SpeedyFolfSpeedyFolf

Well this leaderboard is only about a month old and not much work has been done. I can add that category if you'd like. In fact, I may make it a miscellaneous category just because if I add a 50 lap option for one track, I'd have to make it for all. And as for the rules. I'm still trying to figure out some technicalities. The ILs are for sure going to be in-game time. But I'm still trying to figure out some completion amounts for the full-game runs. Also I have to figure out if there's a big difference between PS2 and PC (which I don't think there is). All of my leaderboard operation knowledge comes pretty much from the ATV Offroad Fury series, so I'm trying to reciprocate that as much as I can. If you do have suggestions or just feel like you'd want to be a moderator, that would be quite nice and you should let me know!

Thread: Question about emulators

Started by: gesturegesture

You should be alright to use an emulator. The only thing I think would change would be load times, and those are eliminated by our in-game time calculations. This is also the first time an emulator has come up, so I'm excited to see it to be honest. Good luck!

Thread: Update About Freestyle and Runs Including Freestyle

Started by: NuMetalzNuMetalz

Earlier in the ATVOF leaderboards, there were runs that included doing freestyle and having a very convoluted method of timing that I really didn't think was clear as the racing championships. As of now they are removed until a later date. I have talked about this issue to speedrun.com admins.

My desire is to leave the racing championships across all games the same (having in-game time be the primary timer, and real time being secondary), but as for the Freestyle, and All Gold Trophy runs i would like having real time be used predominantly and in-game time as secondary (or not at all). The main reason for this is because freestyle runs do not give a true in-game time.

Before I brought this to the Admin's attention, on October 15th 2016, Lighnat0r asked if people had any timer-related issues that needed to be addressed in a coming update of speedrun.com (http://puu.sh/upBbN/44559afcb5.png). I told him my dilemma and he said a fix for my issue is already in development! (http://puu.sh/upBCQ/690e89fadb.jpg)

So until this update arrives, Freestyle will not be included in the leaderboards just for simplicity reasons.

I posted about it a few days ago in the #sitebugs discord, and I just recently talked about it in the Sticky: New Layout Thread here: http://www.speedrun.com/The_Site/thread/p4a8r/13

There seems to be an issue with the "Edit Theme" page on older leaderboards as opposed to "Add Theme" on newer leaderboards. Things are able to be altered on the older leaderboards that have "Edit Theme" and are not able to be altered on "Add Theme" pages.

Many people have this issue and is discussed on this forum thread: http://www.speedrun.com/The_Site/thread/9pcbs

Unfortunately, I just tested it on an "Edit Theme" page and images uploaded immediately. As opposed to a leaderboard that has "Add Theme" where no images can be uploaded. Weirdly, the image stays in the Add Theme page after saving and reloading but does not apply to the actual leaderboard.

I'm unable to alter (newer leaderboards i was given a few days ago):
http://www.speedrun.com/atv_offroad_fury
http://www.speedrun.com/atvof3
http://www.speedrun.com/atvof4

I'm able to alter (older leaderboards):

Same issue here. Works fine on any leaderboard that has "Edit Theme" (Themes that have been changed previously) but nothing is able to be changed on leaderboards that have "Add Theme".

@AntoninZeKing yeah, I believe someone asked on the previous page in this forum. Hopefully there is a moderator for that game soon.

Just to let you know, I plan on submitting runs for ATV 1, 3, and 4 to start those pages on speedrun.com. Then after those pages are set up, I will submit for the whole series after that! Rallis, I'll be sure to make you moderator.

Hi Sophira!
I tested the script both before and after my reboot, and unfortunately I still have no luck.
Tomorrow I am going to try the script on the family computer (Running Windows 8 ) just to see it work! And I will also try it on my laptop (Running Windows 10) to see if it yields any different results! Also, thanks for stopping by the stream, I do appreciate the company lol Kappa.

I tried it, but unfortunately I don't think it works on the EA Origin version of the game.

Thread: Freestyle Timing

Started by: NuMetalzNuMetalz

So I have begun to strat the Freestyle runs, and my question is about the in-game timing calculation. Because all of the freestyle objectives have a count down, I assume that I have to subtract the total given time from the time left after the objective, but I am unsure when the end time should be calculated. It is important to note that the time continues to count down even after the objective is hit, and there is a short period between the objective being hit, and the game returning you to the objective selection screen. My question is should end time be calculated when the objective is is achieved, or should it be the moment when the game returns you to the objective screen? I honestly would go for when the objective is hit, because the stunt score objective will not boot you back to the objective selection screen after you have hit 50,000 points.

I also apologize for the long technicality question haha.

Amidst getting really upset at the freestyle objectives, I was wondering if the cheat codes "GETONUP" that gives wheelies points and "FLYPAPER" which enables and disables wrecks would be allowed in those corresponding runs.

Didn't even think of that!

Oh, and i am now running into an issue as a moderator... When i update my runs, they are not updating right away. i didn't know if this is supposed to happen or I'm doing something wrong.

Also, my Pro Nationals run has disappeared off this page even though it is shown as a run on my profile.

EDIT¤¤¤: Nevermind, it just seems as if the website is taking its sweet time. No issue here.

This is awesome!

I have just started to do in-game time calculations which I'm guessing is just the displayed times given in game all added up?

I don't know if I'm ready for the all gold trophy run yet. Essentially because these freestyle runs are such a pain in the butt.

And i just started my first in game timing by using the times given in game and using this website that is similar to yours that i saw on other run pages. http://www.unitarium.com/time-calculator

Im totally new to this website and speedrunning in general, so i hope I'm doing everything correctly. I just wanted to say sorry I've been annoyingly sending you a bunch of ATV runs. But i could totally Mod this game with you if you wanted. I have no idea how being a mod works, but I'm sure it would be some work off your shoulders.

Thank You,
NuMetalz
