I'd be happy to elaborate on the current state of the board.

Vermintide 2 is quite unique in the aspect that many core elements which influence speedrunning are frequently changing. Maps, career talents, weapon balancing, etc are the largest offenders.

Since the board isn't categorized by major version differences, these changes have compounded into a source of frustration where many records are now unobtainable and the enjoyability of the hobby as a whole has decreased. One of the most recent patches that went overboard with wall placements is responsible for the example you've provided (empire in flames).

these discrepancies have existed since before I became head admin. I plan on categorizing the board by major versions when the next expansion - Chaos Wastes - is released. This should provide a much-needed clean slate while preserving the history of legacy runs.

Theres currently no planned direction for the board. I'm just not sure where to take it because of WoM. The addition of cataclysm, new enemies, stagger/health system, numerous career overhauls, and changed mechanics have shaken up a lot of glitchless and any% runs which are now impossible to replicate. So are any outdated runs going to be moved to a legacy board? I can't make that decision on my own. I recommend bringing the discussion to the runners discord.

Thread: WoM and where we're headed

Good Evening folks!

A few weeks ago, the new expansion pack Winds of Magic was released. With it, a seriously huge problem threatens every run to-date.

The expansion includes A HUGE AMOUNT of anti-speedrunning mechanics & enemies. Notable any% tech has been butchered, and career talents have been reworked, making some careers faster & others slower. Maps have been layered with even more walls to keep the player inbounds.

We currently have no idea what direction the board will take, but for now we'll have to wait until things settle down as the desire to run at this state is minimal.

thanks for listening
