Some people widen their game's aspect ratio to make looking for structures easier, namely in the Nether. After quick testing, I've found this can be used to see through walls as well. Perhaps some restrictions should be made?
Tested on 1.17.1, the latest release version.

i thought vc loads were slower for sapphire specifically

I watched the top 2 Everdrive 0 star runs (by Xerint and Shy) and they look like they ought to be at least 5 seconds faster each. I also watched the WiiVC record but I couldn't tell how slow it felt considering it was recorded with a webcam. Should we separate the board for Everdrive64 and Virtual Console?

I don't have a run of this - at least not yet - but I wanted to throw in some ideas I had for a speedrun to the "Beaconator" advancement. This is basically 1.14 any% RSG on steroids.

- Use version 1.14.4.
- Examine your seed. Ideally, you should see several desert temples (for TNT), a village (any kind) and a Dark Forest biome.
- Obtain as much TNT as possible. Don't forget to use gunpowder from any loot chests you can find to craft extra. You will need a lot.
- Obtain whatever resources you quickly can that will work on beacons (iron, gold, diamonds, emeralds / netherite is not available on the ideal version). Also make sure to find 3 obsidian in order to craft the beacon at the end.
- Hire villagers as fletchers. Ideally, have multiple fletchers, because villagers need to restock.
- Blow up many trees in the Dark Forest biome. You're going to need enough sticks to trade for up to 1,476 emeralds, depending on how much other resources you have.
- DO NOT kill the village's iron golem until you are done trading!
- Go to the Nether and obtain 3 wither skulls from killing wither skeletons.
- Kill the Wither and obtain the Nether Star.
- Make 5 glass blocks in a furnace and, if you haven't found 3 obsidian in loot chests, make a diamond pickaxe and mine obsidian yourself.
- Craft the beacon and all the blocks necessary, and build the beacon.

Timing should end when the advancement "Beaconator" appears on screen.

1) I'm not a communist, I just hate how Nintendo has been abusing copyright to threaten their fans ever since Satoru Iwata died.
2) I may not run this game, but given a look at the leaderboard, I can tell 1:35:00 any% isn't a "top time", as more than 1/3 of the players on the any% leaderboard have a time under that.
3) I still don't know why time-capping emulator runs is supposedly a better idea than creating separate emulator categories, if emulator is to be allowed in any way. It seems like a half-assed "cut the object in half" compromise and I don't understand why SMS, or any game, for that matter, would do it.
4) @NokiDokiNokiDoki I guess that's one concern gone, but my other (much larger) concern is of wasting my money on hardware that breaks in a few days (or comes in broken) and not being able to refund it because either the seller won't allow it or my parents are too lazy to proceed (or both).

is there any particular reason why emu is capped at an arbitrary time? if you want to add it with a restriction, why wouldn't it be better to separate it? just wondering.

also, any% hoverless says video proof is required for times <1:25:00, which is faster than WR.

(no, i don't run this game, but i'd like to try it eventually, and i hate the ideas of spending upwards of $100 on hardware that might come in broken anyway and of giving money to nintendo)
