Awesome! I'll run some of the them this weekend. I've been curious to see which lord is the fastest to do missions for. I'm assuming Ichigo the fastest and Sadame is the slowest... but we'll see.

You're probably right. Most people say that although emulators can get really close, they'll never perfectly emulate the real console.

I think this is resolved. So from what I've seen in other videos and doing a little testing of my own, this is how it breaks down:

Real Time - This is simply how long it takes you from the time you in real time to beat the game from start to finish the game (specifically from the time you select your difficulty until the time you get the last hit on Gamuran). It's great to be able to see what you're getting in real time, but note that different load times affects this score so emulators would always have an advantage over consoles and therefor this shouldn't be used to determine what place you get on the leaderboards.

Final Results time - Apparently this has nothing to do with the current run. It shows the time from a previous save that's already on the memory. Why? No idea lol. Maybe it's showing the fastest playthrough on the memory card. Since I always use a new memory card with no previous save in every any% run, this is why my time is always 00:00:00.

In-Game time - This is shown once you save your game at the end of the run. I'm not exactly sure what the in-game time is keeping track of, but it likely pauses on load times and cut-scenes. This is why the IGT (In-Game Time) is usually shorter than RT (Real Time). Since load times are not included in this timer, there should be no differences between running on console or emulator and therefor this time is what should be used to determine where the run falls on the leaderboards. It is important to note though that you can't even see what your In-Game Time is at the end of the run unless you have a memory card inserted so don't speedrun this game without a memory card 😅

The leaderboards for Shinobido: Way of the Ninja is currently based off of In-Game Time so no further adjustments need to be made. 👍

That makes sense. I'll always show all 3 times on my speedrun attempts just in case.

Hello! I've completed my first any% speedrun of this game offline (I will stream official attempts soon), but I'm really confused. I played the game from beginning to end with no game overs and no saving in-between, but at the end of the run, after I killed Gamuran, the end game screen showed my "Final Results" time as 00:00:00. My "realtime" score from my livesplit is 2:11:20. The time at the end of the game at the save screen was 2:07:22.

At the moment the World Record on the leaderboards for any% looks like it's using the time from the save screen, but the True Ending% is using the time from Final Results screen. Which one is correct? Are they scored different based on category?

Also, I know the run description for the only any% run says the the run is invalid, but doesn't say why. I'm assuming it's because the 'dead body' cheat code was used to jump higher, but I'm not sure. Was there another reason? Since it's an invalid run is it only on the leaderboards until another run is submitted?

Also does anyone know why my Final Results time was 00:00:00? I love this game, but I'm still confused on the rules.

Thanks

I'm surprised The Messenger isn't on this list since the official Guinness Worlds Records youtube channel has the Any% No OoB record there.

Is there a guide somewhere on how to go out of bounds? I'll start trying to speedrun this game in a couple weeks, but I can't figure out how to clip out of bounds with any of the characters @_@. Would it be possible to add a No-OoB category (like on the Mark of the Ninja page https://www.speedrun.com/motn/full_game)?

Fun fact... right after that record, I did 1 final all character any% attempt and ALMOST beat my record again... but in the last 2 minutes one of the enemies didn't spawn (and you have to beat all enemies for the final boss to appear).

I tried to turn around to go back and beat him... but I fell off the boat and died T_T

I beat my old record. New record is 58 minutes and 6.4 seconds In Game Time and 1 hour 19 minutes 14 seconds Real Time.

I have an idea for a new category called Any% All Characters. The goal is to beat the game with all 3 characters in one single segment run from a new save. The rules will basically match the rules for the other Tenchu 2 any% categories:

- Must be a new game.
- You can use any items gained during the run.
- Time for Real Time starts when choosing the first characters stage, and ends when the final characters boss's HP reaches 0 (final hit on the final boss). Note: this run will be based off In-game time unless all other categories are changed to Real Time
- In-game time is tallied up after the run from the record screen.
- You MUST show all times from the record screen at the end of the run.
- Single Segment
- You can play the characters in any order, but you must complete all 3.
- The cheat code to unlock Tatsumaru may be used. No other cheat codes are allowed.

I've successfully run this category a few times. This video is my current PB (and I guess WR too).

I know this post was a year ago, but I'm going to answer it anyway just in case someone wants to know in the future.

Your in-game time is displayed after you beat each stage (the same screen that shows your rank). To get your final in-game time, you would go to your characters rank screen at the options menu after you beat the game and add all of the times. Personally, I put all of my times into this website because I'm lazy and it will add them up for me (http://www.grun1.com/utils/timeCalc.html).

Your timer needs to START when you choose your first stage and it needs to END on the final hit of the last boss fight. I don't think there is a set rule for where you need to split in between the stages. To be consistent, I always split at the rank screen at the end of each stage until I beat the final boss.

Finally regarding items... you can use any items you get during the speedrun, but keep in mind that if you're doing an any% run, you have to start from a NEW game/save. You won't start with Dragon's Breath because you won't have it in a new game file. Maybe you can find it during the speedrun or get it by Grand Mastering a stage (I'm not sure), but that would be the only way you could use the item.

Thread: Missing Speedrun videos

Started by: NjNJA_QKNjNJA_QK

Hello everyone. I'm thinking about speedrunning this game starting this week, but I was browsing through the leaderboards and noticed there are speedruns that don't have video proof on the website anymore. Specifically these are missing:

1st place Any% Ayame
1st place Mission 1 Any% Rikimaru
1st place Mission 2 Any% Rikimaru

I'm very new to the website so I'm not sure how this is handled. I'd message a mod directly, but apparently there is no messaging feature on this website. I'd love to see those videos so I can get an idea of the route and strategy involved... but at the same time if they no longer exist and can't be recovered, then there's no longer video proof and the times should be removed because they can no longer be verified.
