The idea of starting from a file with no freed Phantomilians for hundo doesn't sound great to me either, as it didn't with DtP, so I would agree with Balneor. |

Banning the pause now would also not conflict with any future related discovery, which would happen if we had to ban it in six months after runs full of pauses (very unlike scenario, but still). I would keep it flexible as well and keep myself open to whatever we find we can do, and eventually re-allow pausing if it actually has some interesting usage. |

I would agree on banning pauses in IL stages for all the stated reasons. I'm not sure about pauses in full game runs, but that's for another discussion. |

I am fine with the idea of a double category. I would generally be concerned about having two categories for "almost" the same run, but I understand that just prohibiting one way of going through the stages or the other would not be completely satisfying. Hopefully both runs will get the love they deserve and many runners (myself included, if I ever find the time for longer runs). |

@RapixOnGamingRapixOnGaming 's point about the rule being flexible and mods discussing about the single case on their own makes sense. The problem is that everybody was okay with approving the specific run except for @If_And_WhileIf_And_While, and While didn't really ask anybody: he rejected the run on his own. |

To be honest, I think it's a mistake that you leave the mod team for such a reason. As far as I can tell you've been a good mod, just like the others, and you should keep doing it. We've been through this in the past and I've always met the news of a mod leaving the team with grief. |

The updated drivers could be a problem, but it's hard to tell. I could look up my driver version (I had similar issues and had to stop updating them), but my setup runs Windows 7, so it might not be relevant at all. |

I would personally make it even more memey and require the player to pick up the elevator code file just to avoid the RNG. |

Yeah, I don't really see any timing problem. |

@RapixOnGamingRapixOnGaming yes, that's all I was proposing. Of course PS1 and PS3 categories are impractical and an overkill. |

You know, it's fine. I'm caring too much about a nuance, and there's no real reason for it. Nobody in the community gives a damn about these secondary consoles and I shouldn't either. New runners will come, ask about the same two questions, get the same two answers and that's it. It's not my problem and I'm sick of hitting a rubber wall and be the silly dude every time I try to propose something. The conversation is not really worth my time, as it's not worth anybody else's time. |

Forum: Dino Crisis 2 Thread: Run approved without category proof Started by: |
My proposal is mentioned in the other thread: stating very clearly, for each category including multiple platforms, which ones are faster, in order to prevent new runners from wasting time grinding on the less competitive platforms if they can play on the more competitive. I'm perfectly aware of the 1000 categories problem, but this kind of thread keeps being opened because nobody outside of the ancient ones in the community knows about the differences between consoles. The same happened with the speed glitch on PC, when new comers would constantly complain about the game running at inconsistent speed while we all knew the reason and had to explain it over and over again. |

@Rei_LeoRei_Leo, I don't think you should delete your run. Every run matters and is a contribution to the community and the history of the game. Edit: the same would apply to PS3 with physical disc, which falls under PS category even though PS1 games notoriously suck on PS3 and despite fast disc on PS2 making it the dominant version and killing the competition of PS3 (and PS1. Let us not forget PS1). |
|
Forum: Dino Crisis 2 Thread: no PS3 disc category Started by: VortexCZVortexCZ |
@If_And_WhileIf_And_While I would put some advices about what is faster and what as is slower anyways, so that new runners know exactly what they can do to perform best in a specific category instead of wasting a month of their lives on PS3 and then wandering why those pesky PSP times are twenty minutes lower. I would also write down the info about fast disc being essential or the need to update your PSP to get the fastest loading times (as @xtra2Ezxtra2Ez found out) for the same reason. |
|
Forum: Dino Crisis 2 Thread: no PS3 disc category Started by: VortexCZVortexCZ |
I would also add that, according to what we know right now, some platforms are slower than others despite them being in the same category (i.e.: PS1 is slower than PS2 because PS2 has fast disc). This implies that yes, for console category you can run with PS1, PS2 or PS3, but if you run on anything different from fast disc PS2 you're not going to be competitive. |
