Thread: Allowed emulator(s)?

Hello!

I am not sure if I saw or not if the emulator category/section had an approved emulator for the game. I play the PS2 version and typically play on PCSX2 (1.6.0 at the moment to be precise) and was wondering if that was allowed, or if there are others that are better that are allowed? It's been a while and I'm out of the loop with the PS2 emulation scene, so I thought I'd ask. This is one of my favorite DBZ games and I'd love to have the proper info and tools.

I don't even know how that would work in general, considering the speedrun aspect of this game is about going through the campaign of your choice against AI with a legal deck of your choice (assuming you're referring to Banlist category), and you can't "end your turn" IRL and give it to the AI because thats not how this works.

And besides -- assuming that your cards are legal according to LOTD:LE Banlist following the March 2020 update, and the deck you use has cards from sets up to Ignition Assault or whichever the one from the update was, you can already do that if your cards are in the game and are not deemed as banned cards in the game too. You have to keep in mind though, that that's still just Any% Banlist and it's more variety than what the current Banlist decks that are being used are since you're not bound to using one deck for the entire run of whichever campaign you choose to do. Most just run certain decks because they're the fastest.

I apologize if I'm not quite grasping what you're trying to offer here, but long story short, this basically doesn't seem possible considering how limited in cards LOTD: LE is since it's not constantly updated which is another problem Konami has with games that aren't Duel Links.

It is an interesting idea, though.

Appreciate the response Kyutora! Sorry for my late reply, had a busy week. I suppose that would make sense considering the main differences.

I'll try to keep an eye out to see if there are more updates on this. As you said there's not been a lot of discussion on it, but I definitely want to stay informed if more discussions may occur.

I am sure this has been answered already but I was curious about trying both games out on the Switch, but they're bundled together, so it may warrant making a new game forum for it in general, and I have seen others express interest too based on previous forum activity - and was wondering if theres been any development on that? Or any discussions about it in the speedrunning community Discord perhaps?

I'm sure Kyutora has addressed it before, but I just wanted to bring attention to it again. I would love for any more recent updates on this.

They're most likely on the level leaderboards because they are each an individual stage of the overall campaign. While technically that means they could be variables in the full game board, they have their own leaderboard because of their individual level status. As such, to me, they're properly placed and there is no reason to change them. You can see similar occurrences in other titles for similar reasons. A few of my favorite examples are Ocarina of Time, GoldenEye 007, and Super Mario 64.

Whatever the case, LOTD's leaderboards have been formatted like this for 5 years now since the original iteration came out, and the same format seems to have traveled to the Link Evo page, and I personally don't see any reason to change it. I can't speak for the mods who oversee this title, so I'll let them voice their own opinion on the matter should they see your post.

No. Any% is the campaigns starting from the very first official non-tutorial duel in the first campaign to the very last official duel in the last campaign. Without any reverse duels. 100% is Any% rules + Reverse Duels. So that's why they're separate categories. Technically speaking this makes "Any%" 50%, while 100% is just that - the other 50% missing from an Any% run.

And according to the rules, for 100%, Reverse duels may be completed at any point after completing the normal version of the duel. Story deck, Banlist, and No Banlist are different subcategories for both runs - story deck is story deck only, and the others, No Banlist is any user deck that doesn't require to comply by Banlist rules, usually an Exodia draw engine one, and Banlist is any deck that complies with the Banlist according to the game that can play pretty quickly with some good times for duels.

Not entirely sure if this is the same thing that you're asking - but there was a thread posted about this suggestion not too long ago.

Is that kinda what you mean or are you talking about something different?
