Thanks Joydurn. Jesus that's good work. So I guess it might be faster to just take a lot of damage in RPD1 instead of doing that bajej portable safe puzzle. Making G1 possible with 23 shells instead of 26

I posted a 01:04:09 of SMG that needs to be verified. It's on my twitch as a highlight. That run is with a death and danger in labs. Sub hour is possible. It might be the scariest G5 there is lol.

I've yet to finish an official shotgun only run. G1 is a challenge but I think I have it down. Here is my SMG Only run

I mean I don't want to bite off more than I can chew but I'd be keen on pushing for a no damage category too as even the original has those categories. DA management would be interesting. But that's maybe for another day lol. Mods will hate me

The shotgun is such a fun weapon and I do occasionally see people saying they were disappointed that there's no way to use the shotgun in regular runs. Renyth said this.

You'd be very surprised how quick G1 is on SMG only. And G3 is somewhat intense

This has been something as part of a discussion for a while now and I'm not sure if there was a post on this before (apologies if there was) but as I was talking to Furetto last night and SnakeSocom today, the idea of these runs do seem very interesting. I tested LAS Shotgun Only a while ago and it's very possible to defeat all bosses using only the shotgun. It's possible. I tested CBS SMG Only today and it is also possible.

If they were to become categories I think even from a viewer's standpoint it would be interesting to see. We never see the shotgun/SMG in speedruns, and also we don't see certain areas of the game but here we would. Shotgun only would be the only run that would require the runner to do the portable safe puzzle too and to use powder. Even deciding if shooting zombies in the legs instead of the head could be a strategic conundrum because it's a bigger time loss shooting that weapon, or just baiting enemies could be a choice. And killing them with headshots raises DA also. Or crippling a zombie for a freer pass later.

Even the original RE2 has categories such as shotgun only and bow gun only so I believe it makes perfect sense for the remake to honor this with the equivalent. Unfortunately grenade launcher only isn't possible. Another thing is that I don't think shotgun only is possible for B scenarios as there's less ammo and higher DA. So LAS 120 Shotgun Only and LAS 60 Shotgun Only are 100% doable runs.

I'm open to being corrected here but I think SMG Only is only possible on CBS because you can acquire the weapon before G1. In CAS this isn't the case I don't think. Now I finished a run of SMG Only just now and I really went on the hunt in every corner of the game and I finished the game with around 40-50 bullets left which is tight. But I do believe strats could become more advanced and more controlled. The fact is though that the runs are perfectly possible. CBS 120 SMG Only and CBS 60 SMG Only are possible.

If there are Handgun Only category extensions then I think it would be so cool to have these with identical rules to Handgun Only.
So overall, 4 categories are just waiting to be made and ran. I would run these absolutely.

Perhaps we could get a vote going? I'd really appreciate it if the moderators could consider this with some seriousness as I believe it would be an interesting addition to the boards. If ultimately the votes decide against making these categories then I would be at least satisfied that this was voted on and put to bed.

First run I'm happy enough with. I think this is valid

@hazebladehazeblade and I think I now understand that rule for defensive usage. On second thought I actually think it’s fine. It’s a nice option for Ivies I think. I was just curious. Thought it might have been a mistake

NoKnife% seems good but Knifeless% rolls off the tongue I find. Whatever name you think though. I’m just spit balling. I’m excited for this for sure

I was gonna say though, using knives as defensive items seems kind of unnecessary? I don’t understand why that’s ok because on other categories like Knife Only or Handgun Only, those are the only weapons you can exclusively use. I mean it almost feels like a redundant rule. Like it would just take up inventory space. Unless you can use the knife that Marvin gives you as a defensive item and that’s it because you’ve no choice but to pick that up. I wouldn’t be mad at this rule exactly, I just feel like it should be talked about. Or maybe I’m just not reading the rules correctly, lol

I’d definitely 100% run this. I’m just surprised this is being proposed. I thought the mods are swamped atm. The interest for this game might increase again so I hope you mods don’t mind, lol. But absolutely. I’d run this

I find we actually seem to weirdly enjoy the gas station lol. My LAS PB is 42.63. It could be simply made into LAS GasStation and CAS GasStation runs. It's a pretty technical part of the game to perfect and Frank presents an RNG element to it too. And for moderating it really wouldn't be a headache because the runs are around 43 seconds. I'd honestly volunteer to moderating just this if the mods don't like it. I'd say the only rule would have to be measuring every millisecond.

I'd understand if you want to hold out on this one. Claire A is probably a bit more popular so I'm doing Claire A on Friday. It's just people picked this one on my stream.

Just posting here to say that I'm going to be doing the first ever Claire B Zoolander% run tomorrow. We already have 4 runs verified for the Leon A board and Subsonix is going to submit his Leon A run any day now. I was wondering if we could move onto making Claire B a category next?

Not sure about anyone else but so far I'm very happy with how things have gone, personally. Moderating Zoolander% has proved to be challenging with having to play certain sections in slow-mo to ensure the player isn't moving left in the inventory. But it's been doable.

Just as an example, this explains how to set it up simply.

I use the number pad on the far right side of the keyboard. 5 = Up, 3 = Right, 2 = Down, 1 = nothing (I bind left to L because even if I hit 1 by accident you can see that it didn't work). This might be nitpicky but in this case, I'd imagine that showing the full keyboard would be safer, to ensure that another key isn't being used to turn left and isn't displayed. But even still, this is just to add to what Deserteagle is saying. Moderators should still be able to clearly see if the player is moving left or not.

I agree with Holy. Another runner on Twitch just today believed that turning left in the menus was allowed. I had to notify him.

Also, I don't know what you guys think but I think it would help to keep the verification of runs fairer if we insist that runners display their keybindings being pressed. Luckily Holy saw DanSpence's left key being hit in the menu, resulting in the rejection of his run. If he didn't have his keys displayed then we may not have noticed.
