Thread: first majima fight

The very first route I used didn't beat Majima. You would just get the abilities slower over the course of the run. But beating Majima and getting the abilities in Chapter 2 saves a bunch of time (about 10-15 minutes at the time). I don't know if my original notes had the old route in it although it would still be faster to do it now with added strats. I would actually wager that beating Majima now saves more time than it did originally since you take better advantage of it.

The biggest issue I see people having is that they are either not Charge throwing (waiting until Kiryu glows yellow) or they aren't shoulder charging to break his guard. There is also the fact that Majima appears to have some sort of diminishing returns on throws (though this is just speculation). In that the more you throw him, the more likely he will get "hyper amrour" and be unable to be thrown. All I can say is to make sure you are properly chare throwing, try to stomp on him and use the shoulder charge to break his guard before Charge throwing again. Also make sure you heat move fater a charge throw and don't do any other attack before that (when your heat is full).

Thread: Max crush and Charge Throw problems in PC Version

After watching your learning stream, the problem you were having is that you were not executing the Charge Throw properly. I realise that in my guide I mention how it works in Chapter 1 but didn't reiterate it when explaining it before the Majima fight in Chapter 2. So I added this line in to make sure it is clear.

"In order to successfully complete a charged throw, you need to press O (Or whatever your grab button is) to grab, then press it again and hold it until Kiryu glows yellow."

Everything else you were doing seemed fine for the most part. One other thing to mention just in case is that the shoulder charge is needed to break his guard after he gets up if you aren't doing a heat move. It did look like you were doing that though, but I thought I'd reiterate it. And like Froob said, always make sure the heat move is used after the charge throw, if you use any other attack between, it gets the damage increase instead.

Thread: Tips for a new runner?

One thing to note about my guide for Any% is, it isn't completely updated with the newer shotgun strats for the end game. But I'd honestly recommend the older route first if only so you understand enemy placement. You can always watch the video for the WR if you really wanted to use them straight away although that run was honestly a test run that worked out.

I will get around to updating the guide at some point, I have just been taking a break from serious speedruns for a little while due to health issues.

Thread: New categories

As can be seen, a new category was added to New Game a little while ago. (Any% No RA)

I personally think that No Raging Ache differs greatly from the standard Any%. Showing off more of the game and possibly being a little more enticing for newer players than the unforgiving run NG Any% is or the time investment NG+ Any% is.

Thread: Updated the categories a little

I updated the Board so New Game is now the main category and the sub categories for it show like they did before.

It is just a minor fix for when people look at runners info, instead of showing New Game Any% - Any% (for instance) it will just show New Game - Any%.

To update it on your splits if using Livesplit, just Open your splits and Edit them. First select New Game as the main category and under the additional information tab there will be a NG Category drop down where you can select from the sub categories.

If this change is problematic, let me know and I can always change it back.

I am in progress of making a full guide for the game which hopefully will provide an understanding of the underlying complexities of the New Game any% run so that people may see that the run itself is fairly straight forward.
