Thread: Lack of verification / looking for moderators

Started by: KylovicKylovic

Hi.

I've created the Microsoft games leaderboards in the past purely as a meme. Someone I knew on Twitch did Minesweeper for fun and I thought I went ahead and submitted it.

I never thought the leaderboard for Minesweeper or the other Windows games would ever become as huge as they are now. As I've gotten many Twitter DMs, Twitch messages or even E-Mails in the past asking me to verify their run: I haven't been too active in the speedrun community the last year or so due to university and various things.

As a result, I am looking for (a) new moderator(s). If you would want to help with moderating the leaderboards (actively helping) message me either on Twitter or Discord or so and we'll talk about it.

Thanks for reading and happy speedrunning!

I did try PAL_60 even with different formats in Amarec but none seemed to work unfortunately (gave me the same error as if I had chosen some NTSC standart).

Thread: GV-USB2 with region changed Wii

Started by: KylovicKylovic

I'm trying to capture my PAL Wii region changed to NTSC-J via a GV-USB2. Sadly I've only been getting errors until now, no matter what NTSC_X or PAL_X I set the GV to. It does just give me an error when set to NTSC_M_J and this when set to PAL (https://prnt.sc/ovt7de).
If anyone knows a fix please let me know. If anyone even has experience with capturing a region changed Wii that'd be perfect!

@Komrade

Personally, I've also used a Dazzle before and switched to a GV-USB2 and I can say that it's better (at least for me). It's tough to setup sometimes but once you get it working it's great.

Thread: US power/AV cables on Japanese N64?

Started by: ConkyJoe89ConkyJoe89

I know for a fact that my PAL N64 power supply works with a japanese N64 (I'm using one with EU PSU atm) so I would guess it might work with an US PSU too (though I've neither tested it nor know for sure). You can probably find something with a quick google search, I found my solution fairly quickly.

But yeah, what Timmiluvs said. You can play japanese N64 games on an american N64 with a tiny mod (http://guidesarchive.ign.com/guides/n64/usmodification.html) so you should do that if you can get an american N64 for less than the JP one.

I like it!
Got the app today (iOS) and from what I can tell it beats MSplit by a lot (tested on an older Android) alongside the other "timer" applications that were available for iOS.

Well done!

It's not Excel, that's called Lap Tool (the timer is a seperate program called BKST) you can find it over at http://www.speedrunslive.com/tools/ / it's the 4th option BKST + LapTool English (v1.2) — Translated LapTool, by Lutepin.

I would suggest just getting a Live Gamer Portable tbh. The LGP captures Component and HDMI and you can probably get it cheaper than the one above. I got mine off eBay for about $60. It just has an HDMI output instead of a Component output like the GCHD but if your TV has Component in it surely has HDMI in aswell.

You should never use the Stadium games with the Transfer Pack tbh

GameBoy Player is usually the best option, you can also use a GBASP as a controller if you like it. SuperGameBoy 2 for a SNES-J is also decent tho it only works on japanese SNES's whereas the Gameboy Player is available for PAL and NTSC-J/-U Gamecube's.

Setting up a GV-USB2 can take a while (took me a few hours to get mine working) but once you do it's amazing. Has the best quality for a non-HD cap.
As far as the 60fps thing goes, I'm not quite sure.

well there are some PSP models that have a Composite output so you'd want one that supports that. Then just capture the composite output

Thread: SCART to HDMI converter with AVerMedia LGP

So if I'd buy an RGB-Scart cord for the GC and let that run though the SCART-HDMI converter, will the LGP take that? Cause I thought about buying one just dont know if it'd actually help.

I tired that already, set the converter to 50Hz output and 60Hz output, same result 😕
I also tried changing my Wii to output 60Hz instead of 50 but that doesn't change anything

Thread: SCART to HDMI converter with AVerMedia LGP

Started by: KylovicKylovic

Heya all,

recently bought a SCART to HDMI converter / upscaler unit (looks llike this: https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/41QM%2BkOes0L._SX300_.jpg ) and a Live Gamer Portable.

My setup looks like this now:

Console --Composite--> Composite to SCART adapter --> SCART to HDMI converter --> LGP.

I installed all the firmware updated, drivers and RECentral, played around with all kind of settings on the converter itself and in RECentral, but all I fet is this:

If anyone has an idea what could fix this, let me know!
