Emulator is allowed but hidden currently, there are just no emu runs. If you submit a run it will be accepted. |
Forum: Kirby: Planet Robobot Thread: Amiibo Sub category Started by: Demolition14Demolition14 |
100% and ACC Speedruns with Amiibos will probably be much faster and could have a huge impact in the route altogether. So it should definitely be considered to make a subcategory if runner intend to optimize the use of amiibos. However, I personally don't like creating (sub)categories just for the sake of not removing a run that included amiibos randomly without any actual interest in that category at all. In that case he just didn't read the rules which he could have beforehand if he intended to submit his run to the leaderboard. |

In Kirby: Nightmare in Dreamland you can only challenge every boss (except of DeDeDe and Nightmare) once as they get replaced by the door that leads to the next world. Therefore it is only required to finish every level as it is simply not possible to beat the bosses again. |

The Switch + Version may be the fastest one since you can carry several Puppies at the same time. I hope there's going to be it's own Leaderboard/Category for the + version soon since I plan to speedrun the Switch one |
Forum: Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity Thread: [Outdated] Allowed Wondermail Codes in Gates Started by: KobralKobral (edited: ) |
EDIT 07/03/2020: All rewards are now available for every region due to an updated list. Because of that, the restrictions listed in this post no longer apply when submitting runs. https://www.reddit.com/r/MysteryDungeon/comments/e6qldp/full_list_of_gates_to_infinity_wonder_mail/ Outdated Post: Those WM codes are now allowed in GTI speedruns. We only allow all codes that give the same items in all versions to provide fair competition. Therefore only one code can be used (e.g. for Reviver Seed) if there are more in the respective version since the PAL one only has one code for it. It's recommend to get Reviver Seeds for the first bossfight and All Protect Orbs for the Munna bossfight, the other ones don't have to be used. Allowed codes: PAL: Q858FWH2: All Protect Orb NTSC-U: 2C3YJ43F: All Protect Orb |

I compared my 46 with Ouro's 47 and timed the differences between Wii U DS VC and DS. Please don't be afraid, Wii U VC saves a lot of time over DS and those numbers are correct. I only timed the first two worlds yet, but I nevertheless estimate that the total difference is between 2:30 - 3 minutes World 1: ~21.10 seconds If you are a Wii U runner and want to compare your time against DS runners, you basically have to add the final number to your time. |

Forum: Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky Thread: PMD Quiz manipulation for Time/Darkness/Sky Started by: KobralKobral (edited: ) |
It has been recently discovered by Halqery that it is possible to manipulate Quiz RNG by pressing the "New Game" button on the first possible frame to get the same pattern everytime. However, you can press the A button a few frames before the title screen is fully loaded which means you have a slightly wider window to hit the first possible frame. This trick is not frame perfect therefore Note: It seems like the questions on the first possible frame depend on the region, as I have an entirely different pattern with my Darkness PAL version than Halqery with his Darkness NTSC one. Forum: Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land Thread: Kirby's Air Grind Started by: SaradocSaradoc |
Air Grind is not considered as a speedrun (rather a score for an insignificant minigame) and therefore it won't be added. However, there are already other websites that have a leaderboard for Air Grind (e.g. Cyberscore). Submit your times there instead. Mugg, I think this minigame has some randomness (different lenghts and places for the spikes) if I remember correctly. |

Chromatrope made a nice comparison that shows how big the difference among the platforms are in the first cutscene of Chapter 1 In this video, - Wii U VC is considered the fastest platform - Emulator is slower than Wii U VC, faster than DS - DS/3DS is the slowest platform Wii U VC may save 15-20 minutes over DS in a RTA any% speedrun (rough estimate for now) |
Forum: Kirby's Epic Yarn Thread: Wii U VC Started by: [Deleted user] (edited: ) |
@dongerdude @swordsmankirby The eShop version is as much of a emulator as the Disc version is on Wii U. The difference between digital and disc is unfortunate (even though that this is a common Wii U problem), but doesn't legitimate dividing it into "Wii U" and "Wii U VC" as they describing the exact same. It's just confusing for people which one to take since they basically could take either one as both are correct with that logic (more or less). Even Rtdl doesn't divide it, so why doing it here then? |
Forum: Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky Thread: Wii U VC and new leaderboard change Started by: KobralKobral (edited: ) |
Wii U VC is confirmed to be way slower than Emulator and DS for IGT purposes since it's IGT does count loading times (~19 minutes). However, it's also being faster than Emulator and DS/(n)3DS in RTA (~10 minutes). DS/(n)3DS and Emulator are 100% accurate with their IGT, so RTA would just add more inaccuracies to the main platforms. So we decided to keep IGT as main timing. All RTA times get shown nevertheless to be still capable of comparing all times. Runs are also not getting obsoleted if done on different platforms |
Forum: Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land Thread: Small Change Started by: |
I personally think that having 3 rows with misc categories + needing to fill out another value is a bit more confusing than simple categories However, the real problem with the variable is that you're getting told to check your 100% screen after Nightmare now. MKnidl actually ends after DeDeDe without a 100% screen |

JP is only faster in Super Star, Super Star Ultra and Amazing Mirror. In Nightmare in Dreamland it doesn't matter at all which version you run on |

It doesn't matter at all which emulator you use as long as it's not the banned VBA-M. So mGBA should be fine for runs, even though they are not being treated differently because they are slightly more accurate than VBA. It's still faster than console, so it gets marked as an emulator run just like VBA. It's up to you which one you prefer after all |
Forum: Kirby: Planet Robobot Thread: Kirby 3D Rumble + IL categories Started by: BaconBasedGodBaconBasedGod (edited: ) |
Demolition is entirely right there, I just wanna add a few things: Kirby 3D Rumble doesn't qualify for a own category, since it's pretty much just about a high score where a fast time is one of the requirements besides clean gameplay (e.g. taking no damage, no misses). So it's pretty much the same as a speedrun, only far more complex and competitive. It's also not worth mentioning a 6 minute category in this leaderboard if there's a better solution like Cyberscore. Here's the link if you would like to submit scores: http://www.cyberscore.me.uk/game/1692 |

Every Kirby game accepts emulator runs (Except of Super Star Ultra). Only a World Record doesn't get accepted in most of them. As already mentioned, just aviod using any banned emulators like VBA-M and you'll be fine. SRL provides a list of all recommend emulators for all consoles: |

Emulator is faster than any original console, hence it's banned for top times. Also make sure not to use the banned emulator VBA-M (Take VBA or VBA-RR instead) |

A small update: Since we switched to IGT for all PMD2 main categories we decided to allow all Emulators entirely. IGT cuts out loading times so Console and Emulator are being the exact same now. So there's no problem if you are still interested in running Sky |
