3 hours on USA / Japan Version. (30 frames per sec)
3 hours and 30mins on PAL version. (26 frames per sec)

I am of course counting in that the player is new and will do a bunch of mistakes. But this is about the time it would take.
¤edit: Optimally it would take 2h and 35min.

I am currently making a newbie friendly Any% route - check it out here: https://pastebin.com/ecRkUgR7
Give it one or two days and the route should be finished + I have plans on a video to help newcomers out.

Update: (¤¤¤edit I got a new PB by 1min)
I got a good run last night that almost was a mid 1:49. The reason I lost this run was due to a menu mistake, most likely because I had used two strats for Final Bowser before and I mixed up my muscle memory while doing commentary at the same time. I forgot that I didn't switch to Lakilester on Phase 1 so my cloud counter was a bit off, this lead me to believe I was one turn behind while focusing to do decent commentary. Since I put a lot effort into the commentary in the run I thought it would be of waste if I didn't at least show it. So here are a few highlights showing some part of it. Mic was a bit low (night time, sorry) and my setup isn't good yet, so it can be hard to hear every word.
I consistently get around 1:50 pace on almost every run I make until late game. I've been improving my skill a lot the past month and I've been doing runs/practice everyday since 10 days ago.

Black Toad Skip:
Staircase Skip:

Update: I've been streaming a quite a lot the passed few days and I've been on PB pace for half of the runs I do. Today however I got really amazing early game and I nail the late game tricks - I can do numerous frame-perfect jumps in a row no sweat. I bust Jr T. skip in 1-2 tries and got Laki Early frame perfect jumps 1st try. And I keep it consistent!
I am often on sub 1:50 pace in almost all my runs but I did some stupid late game mistake because I wanted to save a frame or two and I lost the run. But I keep nailing the hard tricks that really matters, with one or two exceptions that can easily be grinded away.

I also plan to make a more thoroughly and informative commentary once I PB (won't be long). And I will show you all my skill on the mic to give the casual player an enjoying experience. I hope to deliver soon.

Segmented runs has always been okay since the old days of SDA and will a a testimony to your skill at PM Color Splash. However, since this is a RTA leaderboard it will by definition not accept any multi-segmented runs.
It really doesn't matter as long you have fun with your game, which is the goal anyhow.

Personally I would recommend you doing practice segments and then a full run on a weekend.
Happy speedgaming!
