If you use the filter on the 11 Exit leaderboard, you can show only cloud, orb, or glitchless runs. This makes more sense than having a separate leaderboard for each, since they are all the same category really.

@a_xxEzraBxxx_b : if you're going to help, please don't act like an idiot and be nice. Thanks.

I was able to get access to an SNES Classic so I can now 100% confirm that it is legal for runs. I have update the document and spreadsheet to reflect this. Obviously, just like VC restore points, the rewind function is not allowed.

The cloud glitch isn't accurate, so the quick setup we have for it for original console will not work. More research will need to be done--by someone else because I don't own one.

Point that to the site admins because it's not even an available option yet.

Every save box is still going to lose you time on English.

ZMZ is just SNES9x under the hood, the lastest version uses v1.53 so you should be good.
Apparently OpenEmu uses bSNES and SNES9x cores, so you should be good to use that as well.

It's the English version, which loses time on save boxes and switch palaces, compared to the Japanese version.

@roopert83 I know I always heard that myself. But after actually testing it, the emulator runs slow and lags more than it should, which means it actually loses time even though the load times are shorter.

I should mention again this is all based in context of SMW, where loads don't happen very often. In a game where loading takes up more time in a run, it could be the case that the short load times actually result in a net gain in time.

¤ Initial Proposal: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1_zJWRsIoGZOPGgs4gtX0wKPyfYvYqdDEhgTZb-U7RZc/edit?usp=sharing
¤ Timing Spreadsheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1ZwK0KEknOq_jQvh03ffABc0TQ3rg6xkNGBs-ZPOwGBQ/edit?usp=sharing

SUGGESTED EMULATORS:
¤ bSNES Compatibility Core (Bizhawk, Higan)
¤ SNES9x v1.5x and higher
The bSNES core is quite resource intensive and might not run well on old machines. SNES9x is a good alternative (make sure you get the newest version).

Emulators & systems that are allowed for all categories:
¤ SNES Console
¤ All Virtual Console Releases (WiiVC, 3DSVC, WiiUVC)
¤ SNES Classic
¤ SNES9x v1.5x and higher
¤ bSNES Compatibility Core (Bizhawk, Higan, lsnes)
¤ SuperNT
¤ MiSTer

Emulators that are banned for all categories:
¤ SNES9x v1.4x and lower

Emulators that are allowed for all categories EXCEPT 0 Exit and 11 Exit Cloud:
¤ ZSNES
¤ no$sns
¤ bSNES Performance Core (Bizhawk, Higan)
These emulators are not accurate enough to properly emulate open bus behavior, which is required for certain item swap glitches.

If an emulator or system that you would like to use is not on this list, comment here and I'll work with you to add it to the timing spreadsheet posted above.

Find enough people to do runs of these categories, then we'll consider making leaderboards for them.

It wouldn't be on the leaderboard if it was already there with a video in the first place. If you asked anyone who keeps up with SMW speedrunning, they'd say that the WR is 14:46.1 by pogyo. Then he decided to remove his video and didn't want his name on the leaderboards anymore. A bunch of people were able to watch that video when it was public, so I don't think it would be correct to say that the current 2nd place time deserves the 1st place spot. If you think it's weird that the first place time doesn't have a video, just ask literally anyone in the community and they'll explain the situation.

Yes, the leaderboard is in an odd state right now, but that's because the situation we are faced with right now is odd itself.

The video still exists on YouTube, it's just private. No one else has a copy of the video.

"No Cape" categories aren't viewed as subcategories to us, so it wouldn't make sense to use that feature. They are different enough from their "with cape" equivalent that we just see them as entirely different categories. In particular, the one example you listed, 95 No Cape, doesn't even have the same name since you can't do one exit. Are we supposed to change the category name to "96/95 Exit"?

Also,

We had a mod discussion about this and the overall thought was that the distinction between main and miscellaneous categories is purely visual and holds no meaning. The more popular categories at the current time get their own tabs so that people can get to them quicker. Our real "split" between "real" and "arbitrary" categories is our split Category Extensions leaderboard. Eventually we would like to merge the two; maybe then the miscellaneous tab will hold more meaning.

(This is directed to anyone, not just you.) If you want to buy a multitap and multiple controllers, then clamp/tape buttons down, spend a minute or two standing on certain pixels, then press a single button to beat the rest of the levels, go for it. There's nobody stopping you; and in fact, I'd encourage it if you have the things and knowledge necessary to pull it off. You just won't find the leaderboard for that category here because the majority of people won't find it fun to run. We try to make sure a good chunk of people will have fun running a category before adding a leaderboard for it. If we didn't, there would literally be like 100 tabs on the page for Super Mario World.
