Thread: Get Rid of the Misc. Categories

Started by: HaloHalo

Hello 😃

The current Miscellaneous categories (Highest Score, Highest Score No Powerups, 50/20 Best Time, and 50/20 Best Time No Powerups) don't really make sense being on this page. Highest Score (and No Powerups) can't really be timed. There isn't a set goal related to time, it's just a high score. You don't need to time anything, because every single run would be 4:30.0. 50/20 (and No Powerups) is even worse. You do time it, but instead of trying to get the shortest time possible, you are trying to get the longest time possible. Again, it's just a high score.

The other categories are endurance tests, and at least take a little bit of RNG or menuing. But the four I mentioned really... don't. Time starts when you start the night, and end when the night ends. Or, they aren't timed at all.

We used to have that category. But, honestly, there's no point. It would just be a category defined only by how well you can split. If you want an easy category, check out the Update 2 minigames.

Yeah... that's why it's called Normal Adventure Update 2...

If you want to see a category where you don't use Update 2 characters, see No Update 2.

Another thing I forgot to mention. In this sense, we should also ban the Fredbear Clip. It saves about 5 minutes in a run? Maybe 3? That's even more than using Unscrew on the Security fight. The reason that we do not ban the Fredbear Clip is that it doesn't destroy the game. You can still get a good run without the Fredbear clip. Hell, you can still get a good run without Unscrewing anything. But this is a strategy. Something to add to the run. Just because it's high risk, high reward does NOT mean it is worth banning.

There are examples of high risk high reward strategies in other speedgames that aren't banned. SMB has the pole clip, fast 4-2, the Bullet Bill glitch, and even more tricks in the run to save time. Can you still get a good run without those tricks? Of course. Are they unlikely to pull off? Absolutely. But when you do, you get an even better run. But it doesn't matter if you don't do well in the rest of the game. Another example in Mario Kart, the Weathertenko. Can you still get a good run without this trick? Yep. Is it unlikely to pull off? You tell me (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0fwATbPlBnw).

I've said this before, and I will say it again. Unscrew is just another strategy. If people don't like the RNG side of it, or not turning the game into a lottery, then they don't have to use it. But they shouldn't ruin the game for those who want to taste the RNG. To push the limits of the game we have poured hundreds of hours into, and of which we will pour one hundred more.

Honestly? I don't think that there is any way to not make FNaF World a lottery.

In my eyes, this game is all about rolling the dice over and over until you get the intended result. It's totally possible to lose a run to bad movement, or bad management. But mostly, that's not what kills most runs. It's just RNGesus being a prick. It happens with encounters, it happens with character grinding, it happens with Gold Endo. RNG is the defining feature of this game (outside of general knowledge of the game, but that's obvious. While more important than good RNG.).

Is that a bad thing? I think not. It's certainly much different to some speedgames that rely on pixel perfect movements, or frame perfect jumps. But that doesn't take away the excitement you get from getting a good run.

So here, runners need to make a choice. Take out as much RNG as you can to get a sub-par run, or roll the dice until you get WR. This decision does not belong to the rules, it belongs to the runners.

On top of this, removing strategies from the leaderboards isn't something we should be touching. Things should only be specified in the rules if they give runners an advantage (and other obvious things like video evidence, no glitches, etc..). It's the same reason that we removed load times (and in the case of glitches, the tent glitch.). Anyone can use Unscrew. You don't need to pay a DLC to use it. You don't need a good PC. You just need determination and good luck. Just like any other part of a run (mostly).

Now I know that there are a lot of runners that think Unscrew is cheap. But keep in mind that Unscrew, while a large part of any run, does not define a run. You can have a shit run, but get Unscrew at the end. Will it be a time save? Of course. Will it automatically give you WR against someone who didn't use Unscrew? Of course not.

These are my thoughts. Define them as you will.

Thread: Is this Legal?

Started by: HaloHalo

I know I'm a bit hard to understand in this, so let me explain what happened.

On Night 5 and 6, there is a possible time save if you reset the game as 6 AM chimes out. Then, you can skip the cutscene that would normally follow. (on night 5, go to night 6, and night 6 to custom night.)

Now, this trick only works on a NG+ file, as you would normally need to wait out the cutscene in order to get the menu option to trigger, whether it be Night 6 or CN. This is why I question it's legality.

Thanks, y'all ;D

Well, it differs for everyone. We want every runner to have an equal chance, regardless of the quality of their PC.

As it currently stands, load times are currently not subtracted from 4th Glitch, considering it is so short. With that being said, I've been considering changing this. But before I (or another mod) does, what is your input on this subject?

Thanks, y'all ;D

Thread: (100%) Is it Faster to Cheese Music Man?

Started by: HaloHalo

If you weren't aware, you can get a guaranteed Music Man by spending 10 tokens in the Ballpit Tower (similar to using 10 tokens in Prize King gives you Funtime Chica. And before you ask, no, there is no way to get El Chip through a minigame. You HAVE to buy him.). I would like to question if this is worth the tokens, AND the time. Considering you get much more money from Prize King (5k or 15k), even though it is more spread out, it would seem more worth it to just buy Music Man, and not waste the tokens on it. You CAN get money from the Ballpit Tower (100 or 1k), but that pales in comparison to Prize King.

This needs testing, however. Think of it as a philosophy. Feedback is appreciated.

Thanks, y'all ;D

Well, that's kind of how 100% works. We don't want to see how fast you can cheat the game, we want to see how fast you can beat it legit. As far as cheating goes, that's what Any% is for. If you want an Any% category to be added, then I think it could be considered.

Ok. This is more something I wanted to point out out of sheer discussion. Obviously, the FFPS community is young. But I would like to set some groundwork for the perfect run (Which would be, at least at first, performed by a TAS.). One thing I would like to point out is Insanity. Fruit Punch Clown CAN be used to get Egg Baby on Night 1, but you have to jackpot every time. In a normal game, this takes a MASSIVE amount of time for all the children to gather into the jackpot zone. But, again, with the right RNG, it could be used to speed into the perfect run.

This thread is more a discussion, not only on the example above, but on other things that seem impossible that could be improved upon. To bring it to light. So, thoughts? Opinions? Objections? Jokes?

Thanks, y'all ;D
