So, I'm not sure if the files for GOG were deleted because they were too "piratey" or Palmer just ran out of space, but here goes, I reuploaded the original .zip that I had lying around. Note that you can assemble the package yourself using Albeoris' github repository and DxWnd. To make Maya run by default, just add "-r", without the quotes, to the shortcut's "target" path, which should look like this: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1rG9xpitPk1LCPW1_ayJjrd2k_pn8gBOv --- mir...@ |
Forum: Septerra Core: Legacy of the Creator Thread: No Early Doskias Rules Started by: HachimenHachimen |
I've been wondering what the basic rules for this category should be, and what seems the most logical is to require spawning Doskias' ship and entering it from Shell 2. Any thoughts on this? |

So, I found a way to manipulate the pathing of the third companion in the party, which enabled a lot more consistency for pretty much every OoB. Not that this wasn't already apparent in a lot of the clips, but it definitely needed to be understood better. I compiled a playlist of like 42 clips, which should cover all of the current any%. (I guess the plan was to cut any% short on Shell 4, but meh.) Not gonna be easy to memorize all this BS, but it sure will be less random! Excuse the repetition of these videos - it was convenient to try a thing 3 times and move on as a sign of consistency. I imagine some compromises will have to be made not to lose your mind in actual runs anyway. Things to point out: Anyway, enjoy. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLak_BZDFz0PTbbaij_VQoMFysM9XoZQ6T |

Been working on setups for the OoB clips (there's a lot), and stumbled upon this oddity. Interesting how they'll clip in without saving at all. Also, depending on which direction Maya is facing when clicking on the door, you can get her stuck as well, which crashes the game. |

Here you go. Looks like it counts as an AI manip, as they don't act when they normally would, but the bars charge normally for everyone, so that's a non-issue. Might have something to do with the way I hold down the F key, "react" when the UI pops up and let go. I think I'm at my limit when it comes to testing this, though. With hotkey Without |

So, this isn't to say QoL is bad and that the slow combat should be put up with, but I found some evidence that it does let you skip enemy turns:
Maybe the mod can be improved, maybe not, but I thought I'd share this finding since it was claimed the mod doesn't affect balance. |

Significantly problematic? Unless you know something everyone else doesn't, probably not. Whereas MrBoogyBam received several pages of being made fun of because he didn't read a sticky named "hey". Not too fair for wanting to help the community by reviewing speedruns (time consuming and arduous) with no compensation. |

Managed to find a setup for something that I think was still obnoxious when you guys were last running the game. I also tried just clicking in the top right corner, but there were consistency issues, though it worked like half the time. Lagginess during recording also made the game behave differently for some reason. Kudos to Professor_Palmer for finding this skip. The inside of the tower on top of it is just straight up awesome. |

Perhaps a clearly communicated sticky would be a better idea if mod requests are becoming a problem? Can't see how allowing the forums to turn into unusable memeing outlet is healthy for the game. |

Traditionally, times for niche categories would be posted in a forum thread, and any competitors were encouraged to follow suit. If enough interest arose, a leaderboard would be created. That's your best bet if the mods aren't excited about gifting everyone that asks a board barren of activity. |

You know, I can't help but to compare this whole QoL category to something like FF7 with an emulator speedup hotkey to make the combat faster. Kinda lazy. You sure it's worth splitting the leaderboard? |

Two hands? I can't imagine any use for that, lol. ASD seems to work just fine. Similarly, QWER for the menu works more intuitively than WERT. |

Also, any reason why people don't just remap character hotkeys to a, s, d? Just noticing how awkward it is with this row of keys for character selection. |
Forum: Septerra Core: Legacy of the Creator Thread: Septerra Core Quality Of Life Patch Started by: |
Somewhat figured it out, I mistakenly assumed Q was a hotkey that selects all the characters. Q is for Maia (1st char), A is Grub (2nd char), and Y, awkwardly, for the 3rd char. I guess what you're saying about the speed being really close makes sense. So, with these 3 hotkeys there's no need for an autoclicker. The only nuisance left is having to time F instead of just holding it, as it would mass activate and give the enemies' free turns. Another nuisance would be getting double presses on mechanical keyboards, as they sometimes tend to do. Not much to complain about though, I suppose. Good work on the patch. (Tested on GOG, BTW.) //edit: Oh, good that you can remap flee. I'll definitely try that out. Thanks! |

Fired this game up for a nostalgia playthrough, the speed up hotkey is a breath of fresh air, but it's been buggy. I'm not sure if I missed a readme somewhere, but all that seems to work in combat is Q and F. Q doesn't always select the next character that gets to act as soon as possible, and F straight up stops working sometimes if I don't select any of the characters with mouse cursor beforehand. F will also sometimes select some other character than the next in "queue". The last time I played this game I just used autohotkey to click rapidly before that first charge bar could sneak up on me before I could time it right. I was hoping this patch wouldn't require any further fiddling with autohotkey. Is there anything I'm not getting that addresses these issues? |
Forum: Plague Inc: Evolved Thread: Trojan Plane, Neurax Worm and Any% Started by: HachimenHachimen (edited: ) |
I would very strongly disagree that your interpretation of "any%" for Plague Inc., whose general basis across speedruns in history revolved around triggering a sequence that ends the game, is correct here, but it's also inconsequential to what I perhaps should have stressed more, which is that you seem to have an unbeatable WR due to version differences. Don't want to act like some kind of smartass, I realize communities generally adapt to what is conducive to having an interesting speedrun, and that's fair, I'm not inclined to contest that. What I'd mainly love to get out of this is a clarification on whether this Trojan Plane glitch is actually exclusive to an older version or have I just missed something along the way? Thanks and am glad you were able to moderate the game for such a long time as well as provide a very quick response as a moderator! |
Forum: Plague Inc: Evolved Thread: Trojan Plane, Neurax Worm and Any% Started by: HachimenHachimen |
No offense, but this whole leaderboard seems a little strange, the fact that any% utilizes genes that can only be accessed by previously "beating the game" would turn this into some sort of an NG+ run already (theoretically, I don't think this game allows for a traditional completion, unlocking every plague would seem as an "ending" of sorts). Also, it looks like the WR was done on an older version where you didn't have to purchase Trojan Plane to use it. Not to mention that Neurax Worm has to be unlocked first. Can there at least be some info added what version is required to glitch Trojan Plane? It would make sense to move those unbeatable runs to a legacy category because it isn't exactly welcoming to force anyone new to jump through unnecessary hoops just to compete. |
