Thread: New Runner; Lots of Questions

Started by: GibbyTODGibbyTOD

Hi all! Decided this summer to finally learn how to speedrun my favorite video game, and of course am immediately full of newbie questions and issues. The most pressing one right now that's keeping me from really nailing beginner strats is a problem with my camera control while I'm trying to do the boosted long jump. I'm playing on a GameCube with a wireless controller.

Whenever I adjust the camera to be immediately above Bilbo (which according to a speedrun tutorial I found on YouTube gets rid of the long jump glitch that forces Bilbo to the ground), the camera resets itself down about 30 degrees automatically, which maintains the glitch and I think is keeping me from successfully making those boosted long jumps. Either the tutorial runner's camera doesn't do that, or he's found an extra finger to hold the C-stick in place while he long jumps.

Do any other GCN runners have this issue/have a fix? Or is this definitely just a newbie issue that's gonna take more practice to solve?

(Tutorial I'm watching btw is at www.youtube.com/watch?v=T40nTSnL1oE&list=PLw7urXMnb04WbTXu_GPMHGt_6vfyKy3Q4&index=3)

Thanks ahead of time for any help - I'm excited to keep working at this!!
