More rules updated. -Functions that don't exist in the original console and may provide an advantage over the original console (e.g. suspend point) aren't allowed. Because suspend point works the same as savestate. Please always top out or reset to start a new run. -For additional rules, please consult this google document, https://goo.gl/pYN6AR |

Also I advise everyone to keep an uncropped local recording of your PB run at least until your submission is approved. In case you didn't crop the video properly or Twitch decided to mute your video, I'll be able to help fix your submission. |

Hi everyone. For the sake of clarification, we've decided to add these rules for our leaderboard. -Submitted video must show reset or game over screen from previous run before level selection screen. This is to prevent emulator players, should they decide to get a specific random seed by starting the game at a specific frame in the level selection screen, from using savestate to skip the waiting time and thus gaining an unfair advantage over console players. -Game audio must be presented during the whole duration of the video. Playing with music type OFF is fine, but game audio must not be turned off altogether. The reason is that game audio is a common way to detect inaccurate emulators or cheated runs. Please take these rules into account when recording and cropping your videos for future submissions. Regards. |

Forum: Dr. Mario 64 Thread: Which emulator is accepted? Started by: FrankFrank (edited: ) |
Hi. I'm interested in running this version of Dr. Mario but I've never run a N64 game before and I'm not sure if using emulator is okay. However, seeing that there are a few runs done with emulator on the leaderboard, I assume that it is allowed. So, my question is, which emulator should I use, and are there any settings that I should be aware of? |

Hi. A question. Is running this game on an emulator OK? And if it is, which one is acceptable? |
Forum: Wrecking Crew Thread: Questions about death rules Started by: FrankFrank |
Hi, I have a few questions about 100 phases category since the current rules don't seem to cover them. I know death is most undesirable in an optimized run, but I'm asking anyway just in case. 1. Is it allowed to continue from last phase after a game over? (Also I'm using FCEUX 2.2.3. Please tell me if there's more acceptable emulator.) |

Nope I don't think we have any guides, but I think some of the people on the Discord channel can help with that. |

I don't think we can just start the level, die and proceed. At least "Complete" status is needed to unlocked the next level, while "Perfect" status will earn us the "clean out award" for that level. Each trophy counts as 10 coins, but is not required for unlocking the next level or earning the clean out award. The best I can come up with for any% is: achieve "Complete" status, then die to end the level. And 100% is: achieve "Perfect" status with all trophies, then die to end the level. Yeah, in the end it's still a race to see who can manage to die first, but still can't think of a better condition yet. |

Hello people. I was planning to run the whole game (all 4 stories) in one segment but noticed there was no category for that. Maybe because no one has defined the rules for Origin story yet. Do we have any plan to include that? |
