Thread: blocked recording of scenes and gameplay

Started by: GODMASTERSPEEDRUNNER

As long as the gameplay up to the spoiler section is fully recorded, we kind of can calculate the final time by comparing it to other console runs. However most of time we will trust you to time your own run correctly.
In general it would be better to have uninterrupted recording, preferably even continuing a bit past the spoiler block (which i believe is only when freeroam begins).

Or maybe use some way to track when the savefile in the folder changes? It should be possible to read chapter and current location info from savefiles as well.

Yes you have to highlight the entire trail. I think you can speed this up a little by switching out of tank mode and back which lets you press scan again faster, instead of waiting for automatic scan.

Thread: I am starting a series on less obvious speedruns. I would like Arkham Asylum to be my first.

To find the early runs you gotta go deeper than the leaderboard.
Initial routing for the game was discussed in this thread on the SDA: https://forum.speeddemosarchive.com/post/batman_arkham_asylum.html
Reasonably old runs by DarthKnight are on the game page, not updated for long time: http://speeddemosarchive.com/BatmanArkhamAsylum.html
If you have questions to the runners from that period you can easily reach to honorableJay and RoboSparkle (both are mods here and have links in their profiles) or ask in the game's discord (link also in the sidebar).

Thread: Extension Categories?

A couple of questions:
• Do we use RTA or in-game time? If the former, then do we allow pausing? And if we do the same for Arkham Knight, do we count prep time (timer in predators doesn't start until you attack)
• Glitches: allow / disallow / separate categories?

Also i hope it's obvious that video will be required like for any speedrun in the series.

Main reason we're not separating platforms is that the site already has filter options to see runs for any specific platform. But if you look at those you will see barely any activity, except in glitchless category. City was more active at the time, we tried splitting it and i'm not happy at all with how it looks, with boards being half-empty.
That being said, nothing stops you from labeling your runs as %platform name% world record or whatever.

A pack of helicopters spawns above Steel Mill (and the rest on the other side of the city) and they don't move until you climb that ledge and talk to alfred. If you're quick enough you can scan all of them before they get too far; after restarting, hovewer, they will be already spread through the city so you have to do this in one try.

Here is this part in one of my old runs, starts at 1:15:52

Here's original vid on storage glitches by Akheon (on console)

The very first glitch is what you do for Hammer skip. Timing might be rough to get used to for the first couple of months but you will get it eventually.

Right, it shows your best run on each console you use. If we want to avoid creating separating categories for consoles as we did with City (and it looks like garbage) and also to not let console runs be buried (it's the only PS4 run on leadeboard) — i suggest we leave it as is.

This magical button allows you to see runs only on your platform.

Pause timer, continue when you reach approximately the same place. Don't forget to put in description at what point in the video the crash happens.

Thread: Should We Add New Game- WITH Catwoman!?

Started by: RobinKAKAThaSupriZARobinKAKAThaSupriZA

Added as a subcategory. It's going to stay under the miscellaneous button as unofficial category, unless a few more people start doing runs of it.
I kinda want to make big changes to leaderboards: put NG+ as difficulty selection instead of it's own category, and also split cat and nocat in a similar way, but it's hard to figure out the best way to organize it.

So far we planned it like this: you need to finish 8 Most Wanted missions (Scarecrow being one of them) to be able to activate the Bat-signal and get the first ending cutscene.
We will also add True Knightfall (maybe True ending or 100%) once somebody actually does a run.

Finally got around to do it, you can now submit runs in glitchless (didn't make one for 100% because i don't think there are any reason to do skips in it). Also moved NG+ and IATN under the difficulty selection, like in Arkham Knight, will do the same for City next.

https://discord.gg/bQMZ4nN welcome! Watching current best runs on leaderboard is the best way to learn the routes, although most of advanced stuff were only done on PC so far.

Thread: Easy glitchless

Started by: GODMASTERSPEEDRUNNER

I will move runs from NG+ to subcategory since it's basically another difficulty level, so then we will have option to play knightfall in NG+ as well.
So, as far as i know, to reach Knightfall you have to do 6 Most Wanted missions. If somebody would calculate roughly how much time each of those would take so we could choose which ones to do, that would be great.

Gonna do that, along with a few other adjustments. Do you guys think we should distinguish "pseudo"-Knightfall and true Knightfall (which is basically 100%), and would anyone be willing to do either of those?

It's expected if you're using standart streaming app and not capture card. And we accept runs as is, hopefully you calculated the final time correctly (from pressing button to burn Joker to the end of the final beatdown).

Thread: xbox 360 cutscene Skip???

Started by: CaptRipHunterCaptRipHunter

CaptDylanHunt maybe stupid question but have you tried pressing other buttons in this cutscene? Because on PC to skip dialogues and in-engine cutscenes i use scroll wheel that imitates B button on controller; but video cutscenes can only be skipped with mouse1 which corresponds to X.
