Don't listen to PresJPolk, i'd find it hard to believe anything that comes out of his mouth since the initial leaderboard discussions a long way back.

Why is this a thing? I always wondered what the gazelle image was for...

Anyways after further testing it also works with a controller's jump button + space bar. This means you can get a 'triple jump' using all 3. I set this up with JoyToKey just mapping the jump button to also left click + space

Thread: How about glitchless ?

Started by: HankyuHankyu

(edited: )

The glitches add communication between players which is almost non-existent in a "glitchless" speedrun. I strongly believe that there should not be a second category for glitchless. Especially because then you have to go through what actually constitutes a glitch (e.g. there is a jump in level 3 which skips a long intended puzzle).

However, feel free to submit a time that doesn't use any of the tricks to the leaderboards, nothing is stopping you. You can certainly make a solid time without them, especially considering 4th place doesn't use them. You'd probably be able to beat the run Ben and I did that implemented the new tricks. There are some tiny things that 4th place didn't use that aren't glitches. These cut off portions of puzzles in which they took a long way around as an oversight to a much simpler solution. For example: level 3 is the trick that we did not know about which saves a chunk of time is what I would consider glitchless.

I'm also not sure where how you say glitchless is more intensive memorization of the route. I would argue you would have to know more of the level to attempt the glitches quickly. This is due to the fact you have to know what sections are coming up before they are on screen. Preparing for setting up for the jumps is just as intensive on rote memorization as the normal puzzles, if not more. Also, after a while of playing the game if you forget a puzzle it is really easy to solve them on the fly.

If people want to play glitchless they can submit to the regular category. Games do not need an infinite amount of categories to accommodate people's individual play styles especially when the point is to beat the game as fast as possible.

Go ahead and mod me, I am a world renowned speedrunner. I don't own the game yet, but hopefully somebody can buy it and the console for me.

I won't let you down since I have a excellent track record in speedrunning which you can view on my profile. Feel free to contact me via linkedin when you want to hire me.

It might be kind of hard to find this sort of information anywhere, but i'll try and explain the wrong warp quickly.

The outcome is dependent on the version of the game you have. There are 3 versions of the game: 1.0, 1.1, and the japanese version. When the game crashes upon taking the warp, you are most likely running on NTSC-U/PAL 1.0. On 1.1 the game takes you to the overworld 100% of the time as far as i'm aware. And the japanese version "randomly" takes you to either Dragon Forest or the overworld.

So in speedruns you'll want the japanese version which is really easy to come by and also cheap probably around ~$15 USD at most

If you are referring to your game crashing when you enter out of bounds then the reasoning for that is you are travelling at too high of a velocity. The game can't render the void warp back to the finish line at such high speeds.
