Thread: New Timing For 1-1 as Fire Mario

Started by: Binski48Binski48

15 Oct 2022, 01:34

I think it could quite frankly easily change the leaderboard, if someone got a decent time + fpg it could easily take WR... Also having to find setups for fpg would be stupid especially if you can't use practice roms

@GusGreenGusGreen Nestopia, FCEUX, Bizhawk, OpenEmu, and MISTer FPGA are all stated in the rules as permitted emulators.

@SyIveonSyIveon Yeah not really, we don't need the other numbers for timing. 60.0988139 gets the job done.

IIRC, it came from Family Computer Emulator Ultra (FCEU). The X is for showing how it is one combined version of many different others of FCEU.

@ApianbelleApianbelle Thank you, could you specify one more thing, though? Would you prefer forward 1f or backward 1f?

It's really hard to say because some things differ. If you could specify which tricks in 8-4 that would help.

Thread: Question about wall jumping.

Started by: MageiusMageius

Not a stupid question at all. Everyone has thoughts and sometimes would like to share them. It's possible but very very difficult. As mentioned before me, clipping into the pipe at the end saves time over doing these wall jumps. First, you would have to wait for Mario to fall while the timer hasn't appeared yet. Next, after it does, you would need to move to the left and do insane inputs to get a wall jump pixel twice in a row. Finally, you would need to actually get yourself on top of the ceiling. This just loses way too much time over just going straight forward through the level.

Thread: Timing for reaching water

Started by: EchonEchon

31 Dec 2021, 00:02

I'm no professional at retiming nor have I tried to speedrun this game in any way, but I'm not confident to say that the retiming methods used for reaching water are correct. I've seen some (especially the world record) that were retimed using yt-frame-timer. I can 100% confirm that the time is not completely accurate. Another thing is that it would be easier to use math when retiming. By this, I mean subtracting the starting frame from the ending frame and then dividing that number by the framerate (of the game, not the video). I'm not familiar with the physics of this game, but I would make an assumption that the runners who walk directly forward into the water would all have the same time. If I am wrong about ANY of this or you would like to inform me about something that I am unsure of, please reply.

Thread: GV-USB Persistent Static

Started by: kinoplatkinoplat

You're the first person I could find that actually has the same issue as me. I've searched on YouTube, Google, and about everywhere else and I'm not getting what I'm looking for. I can also confirm that the only way it has been fixed for me was by unplugging it for a long time and plugging it back in. Again, it doesn't always work and I am then set back to square one. I have to turn my TV volume all the way up with my GV-USB2 muted and it kills my ears to have the volume that loud.

@RT_1RT_1 I didn't really think it was human limit, I gave the TAS to CrabbyCrab101. Thanks for letting me know that it can be improved, though.

It's not going to be able to tell you the time because the built-in Pellsson savestates feature was used. Are you using an emulator, if so which one?

Started by: EchonEchon

Hello, I've been wondering for a while why runs start the frame that 400 appears on the timer. Why doesn't the run start when the player gains control of Mario, the frame before the timer appears?
