Thread: New Category and Any% Rename?

Started by: AvantAvant

I did a pass on the runs awaiting validation. And took the time to shuffle categories around following your feedback.
Any% categories have been renamed to Pebble%.
New Any%-Survivor category added.

Feel free, as long as it's available in the current version it's fair game for the skip category.

Axolittle told me about that, so I pondered whether we should rename the category "Swimming Competition". Also according to him the old skip still works with Survivor. He said he'll provide some evidence. As for the new skip, I guess we should make the devs aware of it.

I fixed the Monk's rules. Is there a way for people to play v1.01 now that 1.50 is out?

v1.50 is now officially out and as it turns out, no mechanic changes/bug fixes made between beta and official release.
Therefore, runs made during the beta will be exceptionally considered valid for the new categories.

1. The current records are here to stay. I might close a few categories and move some runs between them, to make room for the new ones.

2. of course. there will be new categories for each slugcats. Monk might get only one though.

3. There is no saying how different the game will be between the current beta and the 1.5 official release, I kinda wish runners would wait until beta is over before submitting new runs, especially since I'm waiting for the end of the beta to restructure the categories.

I'm looking forward to Hunter runs a lot. It took me 18 of my 20 cycles to reach Moon. I'm sure 20 cycles is more than enough for the best of us to deliver the neuron, talk with Five Pebbles (in either order), and reach the Depths.

One neuron is enough to unlock her ability to analyze all data pearls, to my knowledge giving her more neurons doesn't unlock anything (and I'd know, I brought her 11)

You can click "View Rules" to see the requirements.
You must meet with Five Pebbles, bring a neuron to Moon, meet all 6 echoes, and complete all "paths".

In this context, collecting pearls is only useful to complete the Scholar path.

Using Passages is permitted, notably to reduce backtracking.

I'm not in favor of adding pearls to a 100% runs for the following reasons:
¤ To my knowledge there isn't a certified complete list of every pearls in the game, even the lists of those with lore I've seen seem for the most part incomplete.
¤ What is implied by "getting pearls?" Just reaching them? Bringing them inside a shelter? Bringing them to Moon? To Scavengers? There is no consensus. And no matter which one of those we could settle on, it would mostly just add lots of backtracking into the run, which isn't particularly fun to do, nor to watch. Not to mention that if you brought them to Moon you'd have to wait for here to speak all the lore she has to say about it. Not to mention that if we go this far, we might as well bring every single items in the game to Moon to have her give lore about it (because yes, she also gives lore for rocks, spears, and various types of food...)

The guardians in the Depths can be stunned with those flash balls, which makes the game beatable sub 30 minutes.

Someone has done it here:

This appears to be the best route using exploits.
