Thread: Game Request Rejections 101

Started by: [Deleted user]

I don't really think it will. Also a handful of your explanations are simply doubling up on what the words themselves actually mean:

Originally posted by RubyGeneric Puzzle/Typing Games -> refers to puzzle webgames eg. Snoring, or a type speed race site, eg. Typeracer.
Geography games -> explains itself.
Vocabulary/Math and other Educational games -> games primarily designed to provide educational assistance.
Quiz games -> games that just ask questions, eg. Higher or Lower.
Generic Sudoku Solvers/Minesweeper Remakes/Rubik's Cube Solvers, etc. -> explains itself.
Non Video Game Activities -> Requesting anything that does not involve a video game.

Some of the implications are already pretty self-explanatory.
See, even if you would list things a hundred times or try and break down every word that extensively, we still can't make people read or even think about anything that is actually listed there unfortunately.

Thanks but most of this info is on the game request intro page so. You should also know that a lot of users who ask questions in the forum don't read that page. And even if they would read that, other users wouldn't read a stickied post.

It's known that some pages can spit out this error and Elo is looking for a fix.

I'll forward this to Elo, but please, send future security issues to Elo directly (preferably in private on security@speedrun.com) instead of posting these publicly on the forum.

@PuR3PuR3 Direct your inquiry to the mod themselves, as they should be able to appoint additional mods/verifiers if deemed necessary.

From what I know the rules for 100% (and I presume UN for that) are still being discussed. I'm sure it will reach it's way on to the board in the near future. Why not join the Discord to follow that discussion if you are not already in there? 🙂

Even if you would force users to click through a popup that asks the user to confirm that they read the rules, then some people would still not read them. From my experience a portion of that could get resolved by talking to runners after rejecting a run to ensure they read and understand the rules.

One issue with the DBD rules I see is that when you click the rules button it only shows a github link. Not sure why, but writing out the category rules on the site itself per category instead of linking them to a Github page might help. Yes, logically people should click that link but in reality that might not always be the case.

@Leo_Salvatore_7Leo_Salvatore_7 Approach the runners and ask them, not me. I would advise you to be very careful with deleting categories for arbitrary reasons, especially if the game is inactive. There should be a very good reason why a category has to be deleted.

@Leo_Salvatore_7Leo_Salvatore_7 The point was that the time you filled in was incorrect. But you fixed it now so I added you. Just please pay more attention to this in the future. If you expect us to help you, we expect you to abide by all the requirements we have set here properly. That includes having a proper run submission.

@SymmSymm Yep they didn't get back to me. I'm okay with adding you under the condition that you add one more social media contact of your own to your profile. Get back to me when done and I'll add you.

@Leo_Salvatore_7Leo_Salvatore_7 I have severe doubts about the time that was filled in on your run (1s10ms) seeing as the WR is 8s. Could you clarify how exactly this is 1s10ms?

Two notes:
1. SecondLtBadger does not have e-mail authentication enabled in their settings so I was unable to add them.
2. If the date needs to be set to 4-6, let me know if you are unable to and we'll adjust it.

@goldenONXgoldenONX You require a pending run.

@SourSour First of all, you deleting your account and then later deciding to recreate it is not going to influence the 30 day threshold we use in this thread at all. So for now, we will treat your account as being 3 weeks old. Secondly, one of the mods (Corsaka) was online a week ago. Be a little patient. Await the 3 week threshold for run verification and if your run has not been verified by then, send a message to the mod requesting a status.

@JerienJerien I actually looked over that your account is only 3 weeks old. Apologies. Do know that this thread is very active and sometimes we look over things. For now: I know this moderator is heavily inactive, but get back to us next week if it's still pending by then and we'll add you.

@RubyRuby One of the requirements is a pending run, as mentioned in the first post.

@EliaasiEliaasi Added.

@Bob-chickenBob-chicken You need a pending run. I don't think this is the first time I am mentioning this to you either. If you cannot abide by the requirements in this thread, your request will be disregarded.

@zir0niczir0nic Is this also a request to remove them or could you explain what bumping you into a super mod would accomplish for the particular situation you outlined? There is of course no hierarchy between moderator status. Site staff is also willing to look into the problem at hand here though.

@SBCzSBCz 3 weeks is the threshold used for run verification but we consider moderators fully inactive after 3 months, which doesn't seem to be the case here. Have you messaged the mod at all to request them to unmod themselves?

@SymmSymm I know your run has exceeded the 3 week threshold but the mod that was last online 3 weeks has been very active on Twitter. I have gone ahead and messaged there to attend them on your pending run: https://twitter.com/ItsDaravae/status/1317220261708648448 I'll get back to you if I don't receive an answer after a reasonable amount of time.

@TRLittleToasterTRLittleToaster You require a pending run.

@Leo_Salvatore_7Leo_Salvatore_7 Inactive mod or not, you require a pending run.

@MiphaSRMiphaSR As they were online two days ago, I went ahead and messaged them myself to request what currently their involvement is in moderating this leaderboard.

@MrDino023MrDino023 Added.

@H3n2H3n2 Your account age is only one day and does not yet meet the 30-day threshold requirement. Please read the first post of this thread on how we handle things in there and get back to us after you met all the requirements before posting here.

@Max_OverpowerMax_Overpower Interesting. I will take this up with other staff and get back to you on how we are going to handle this. Edit: We removed the series and mods and reinsrated your request and handled this.

@NickBGoHardNickBGoHard Added.

@ghebgheb Apologies in advance that you have not yet received an answer to your inquiry towards support yet. The site has recently seen a switch in ownership and it's possible the new owners are currently still handling a backlog of e-mails. Either way, I added you as a mod since you had a pending run for 2 months and the existing mod was heavily inactive so you can disregard the e-mail to Support as well.

@muumi10muumi10 This series does not require moderation. Please read the first post on how series moderation is currently being handled.

@Bling74Bling74 I requested one of the existing runners: SuicideMachine, if they would be willing to take over moderation for this game due to them being an existing runner and their familiarity within the community and series. I'll get back to you with the outcome. Edit: I added Suicide to take over moderation.
