Forum: SpongeBob SquarePants: Plankton's Robotic Revenge

Thread: Refreshed new catergory layout

Started by: DaniDani

27 Jul 2022, 14:57 (edited: 28 Jul 2022, 03:09)

Hey everyone,
Been a while since I last logged in and even thought about speedruning

Remembered how much I use to like running this game and the layout really needed some fixing so I decided to attempt it. I changed the way catergories look (there not all together in 1 misc menu like before) Looks much more clear and easy to navigate and made a new feature with splitting solo and co-op way more appealing to the eye and easy to access!

Not sure how popular or if there are even any active players running this game (I’d assume not many if none) but if you see this lemme know if you like it took me ages to set it up but IMO looks better then before.

Furthermore gonna try get some runs in and try take back some WRs that I had more competition would be good! So if anymore wants to chat or try and help each other out with finding strats or skips for this game I’m all for it!!

Try and see if we can get NG+ under sub 1? Just looking at my SOB at its 1:03.... damn definitely gotta practice to even try get close to that now

Again, not sure if anyone would even see this thread but just giving a heads up on the layout...

Peace
-Dani

oh noooo, every time I try and do the chapter 3 skip, it is possible to skip that fight by jumping to left and parkour your way forward, but when i try and cross the bridge thing where the mechs are on the bridge it always triggers the cut scene 😕 damn its patched ill try and find a way around it literally well see

the trigger for the cut scene is now the whole area of the bridge no way to avoid ;-; i think

just wanna also ask as well are you manually jumping as well while in the rocks when you slam? OR it does do it for you, also how do you double jump really fast and not gain to much high to slam in the right spot? cheers

hey thanks for replying, yeah sure that makes sense, I guess there impossible on console, just a heads up, I did managed to get launched up pretty high (not high enough) but I did it from a different spot a little further up and to the right on a rock, but I somehow managed to get stuck in the rock as well than when I jumped I got launched? ill continue with this and see what other skips are possible thanks!

hey thanks for the reply!
so iv been going at it a few more times and have not got a single "massive" jump like I'm sure I'm hitting the right angle and hitting all the spots just not getting launched, am I suppose to jump while being in the rock or something been trying that a few times and got nothing ;/

would like one of the runners to help or maybe make guilds and tutorials for each skip, I think maybe they patched it in the updates, cause ps4 got version 1.0.2, and I think PC don't get updates?
the patch was like 11Gig so something went down .-.

hey small ninjago community! I recently purchased this game off the PSN Store for ps4 (obviously) and to have it downloaded. the reason why I didn't download it before and now is well because the game before was about 90 bucks for me and well the sale has come and it dropped to 40.
now I watched the recent WR for this game and I saw all the cool new finds and skips for this game so I jumped on my game and I am struggling with the first skip as cole.
the skip that launches you up from the rocks in the middle of the cracks.
now was just wondering its a proxy jump id imagine is this only pc only these types of skips or? also the game for me is version 1.0.2 so I'm not sure did they like patch it or something I know no one can test this if you don't have the game for yourself but would be great if I could get some help, what version do you guys have on PC? THANKS!
will post below if the other skips are not possible or I could just be bad!

In segment 2 differences (the sinister slug route line)
-PSP: The way you get to Mrs Puff Boating school is way different in PSP. Its slower and more harder as there are a ton of enemies.
-PSP: Boating school course is now sightly different as well adding in a pain in the ass puzzle, slower course again and harder as there are more enemies.
-PSP: You now need to get 20 bubbles rather than 12 on the DS version more = slower
-PSP: HUGE DIFFERENCE A POSITIVE TO THIS VERSION! YAY! (for once)
anyway now getting bubbles you can now death abuse and the number of bubbles you have gotten will stay, rather then the only solution on DS is loading in back PSP can just death and still continue.
-PSP: Sandies location in Jelly Fish Fields is slightly different she's more off the right making it more slower.
PSP: You now need to catch 36 freaking bubbles In JFF before confronting the Sinister slug making this way slower and harder as there are enemies flooding everywhere.

Hey guys so recently I just got a new latop and its specs are insane (for what iv had for past few years, its insane compared to that :P)
anyways so I was able to get the psp version for this game on emu which is great so I'm going to be testing and basically practising running the game on this version, and I have noticed a few differences for this game between DS and this PSP, backstory for those who don't know iv been running DS TYA for a while and decided I wanted to kill this game on all consoles 😃

anyways going on to the differences in these games speedrunning related would be

DIFFERENCES :

PSP: Has faster loads
PSP: Has numerous more enemies around the map making things 10x more "harder" (compared to DS)
PSP Has changed where the residential district bus stop is located it is now located just outside of Spongebobs house which does makes things a lot faster and saves a few long back tracking in this games
PSP: You can no longer obtain the Glow-in-beard item in sponges house before defeating Man-Ray, its just not accessible to get, you can get it after you beat him, which only loses a few seconds not gonna lie
PSP: A lot of "New Mission" texts which paused you in the DS version are now removed so we don't have to skip them every time we see them now their are less, which might save 1 min throughout whole run.
PSP: Using jelly is now a bit of a pain because of how we need to go into a menu to use it, losing a bit of time, but TBH using jelly isn't the optimal way to go so not realz
PSP: Because there is not touch screen a lot of tasks had to be modified to reach the PSP ability to play, so a lot of touching the bottom screen on the DS version is now even more easier and faster on the PSP version a few examples are the following :
- Getting tips off tables in KK is as easy as going up to tables and pressing X to automatically get the TIP
- Spamming O to enter places
- No more drawing symbols to activate powers, its just the same combination set for each different power (which is possibly slow but less annoying!)
There are a few more which I will add later when I have finished the run, currently I'm still in the middle so I thought I better right some up before I forget the early ones xD

I know this game is dead and no one would probably read this but I'm just posting this for me and maybe others, its just a reference for me and I like studying / exploring and documenting this game as I love it 😃

Other version differences to add here are loading in from prawn skip on GC cause it wont warp you back to the spat - but will on ps2 and xbox and loading in from dutchamn skip on both ps2 and gc but not on xbox.
And i guess cbing is easiest to do on ps2 since how the control layout is on the controller, but idk just an opinion from experience

Hey racing, urgh so an IL board sounds awesome and all but I'm not sure if it'll be any popular and not really needed.
My guess is that if it did get added is that only like me and you would run, not many others sadly .-.
Buy hey I'll talk to the other senior mods and disuss with them what we should do. 🙂
Also run the other full game catergories ahah more people would be killah!

Maybe the Handheld consoles can have a separate category. Instead of going into the effort in making a new boards?
Unless theres a lot of runs don't I don't think its necessary?
Nice info post none the less, also just curious anyone have the DS / GBA versions? Lol I have the DS.
