Forum: Warzone 2100 Thread: Complete Rework Started by: Alistair_FindlayAlistair_Findlay (edited: ) |
4.3.3 has recently been released! The one with the biggest changes recently was 4.3.1. Due to this and due to the version number outnumbering runs, I have altered the fullgame version categories. Also, "easy" and the new "very easy" difficulty mode have been added. "very easy" on 4.3.3 should be roughly as easy as "easy" on 3.3.0? something like that probably, idk. It will be interesting to see what kind of times that people can get on Very Easy difficulty on fullgame runs. https://wz2100.net/news/version-4-3-1/ 4.3.1 long patchnotes. https://wz2100.net/news/version-4-3-3/ Most recent release patchnotes. |

Is it possible that you can link your Twitch account to YouTube @GoldorakGoldorak? YouTube is much better for international viewers, maybe the Twitch CDN is good in France and America, but in Australia it takes 1 minute to buffer 10 seconds of Twitch video. (Also, if your computer can handle it, YouTube supports up to 4k streaming even for non-partnered accounts.) |
Forum: Warzone 2100 Thread: campaign fast play difficulty Started by: krackerkracker (edited: ) |
Fast play runs originally had difficulty sub-categories, but there was a speedrun.com change which stopped my configuration from showing any runs. I removed difficulty subcategories until I could figure out how to fix it. Adding these categories individually seems to work. I have now re-added difficulty sub-categories. |

Ah yeah, I didn't remember that. Beta1 was strange in a few ways. I'm removing all Beta1 runs. |

Those runs were done on 3.3.0 beta1, there was originally a different category for them, but it broke the page. I'll probably remove those beta runs at some point. Time spent in the design menu does not count towards in-game time. |

That build might only say "git" due to it being compiled from the git branch, but if it were my build of dark mod, it should have been compiled on the git branch at the commit which was marked 1.0 |

I had considered asking @brmbrmcarbrmbrmcar to leave, since they have never submitted a run. I was approached about the possibility of adding @theodorepringletheodorepringle as a moderator, and therefore asked brmbrmcar to remove themself from the position. You shoulda DMed me on Discord, i woulda replied instantly lol. I have Discord on pc and phone, whereas speedrun.com has notifications on neither. If you do not like proprietary software, maybe you could join the SuperTuxKart community on Matrix instead of Discord, we could find each other there also and start up a conversation. I have that installed on PC and phone also, also. Contentsstk:matrix.org |

https://imgur.com/a/HjpJ2ny свин свиныч commented on an old Beta Campaign speedrun video with a 30 minute sequence break. On the final Beta Campaign mission, recycle all your units to complete the mission immediately. Possibly you need to put 10 units in the transport and send it away first. possibly not. |
Forum: Neverball Thread: Will there be a discord? Started by: AL3PH42AL3PH42 (edited: ) |
The link has expired. I should have sorted this out sooner, I'm sorry about this. I have tried some googling, but to no avail. If we can not discover the existing Discord, I will at that point create a Neverball Matrix server and link it in the "open source games" community. I may make a Discord server also, but I think it more appropriate to use an open source group messaging program instead of a closed source one, considering that Neverball is also an open source project. |

Yo @drummyfish do you have some kind of skin on your game? Looks different. Thanks for letting me know it was segmented. Also you cut after the first loading screen to avoid the black flash, good to be able to distinguish between them that way. Unless our PCs just load it differently. Anyway good run |

The unit sacrifice sequence break has been patched. This means that speedruns of the next version will be a few seconds slower. The A.I. is actually much more aggressive, i think the next version is actually harder, not easier. There is a scaling option now, which makes the game much more easily playable on hi-dpi screens. Here is some footage of the apha campaign on the 3.3.0 alpha, I built it a few days before the beta started, so it's basically the same as the beta: |
Forum: Warzone 2100 Thread: Benchmark time Started by: Alistair_FindlayAlistair_Findlay (edited: ) |
I'm keen to see another runner of this. I want to see a "OSGDQ" one day, so we need some more open-source speedgamers. I have a Beta Campaign speedrun in Youtube processing at the moment, it was actually only 2 hours 10 minutes, a full game run of this would only be about 9 or 10 hours actually. Maybe even less. Edit: All those estimates were way off. Alpha + Beta combined is only about 2 hours 30 minutes. Full game in about 5 hours. |
Forum: Warzone 2100 Thread: Benchmark time Started by: Alistair_FindlayAlistair_Findlay (edited: ) |
Benchmark time for a full-game run is about 12 hours. Alpha campaign is sub 2 hours, Beta campaign is about 4 hours, Gamma campaign is 6 hours, 5 hours minimum. I'm currently investigating a potential sequence break in the Gamma campaign, I ran into a soft lock where an invincible blimp appeared, so to prevent it from happening on the next attempt, i rushed that position first and took out the base and left 3 units at the blimp spawn location, this prevents the blimp from ever spawning, and prevents reinforcements from arriving, potentially saving about 30 minutes on that mission. On the Nexus unit takeover mission, i arrived at a situation where no more units or buildings were being taken over, except for newly created ones, some research is required here for another potential sequence break, keeping as many units or currency as possible is paramount in the Gamma campaign. |

Maybe instead of 0.10.0 it could be 0.19.0 It would also be good to add a watermark to the lower left corner of the main menu, showing the currently running version number. Most other open source games have something like this to help the player know if they are up to date. |
