Unlike Outlast 1 and the DLC, you must hit every checkpoint in order or the game will read a checkpoint error and kill you at the next major checkpoint. This makes basically any major skip impossible. |

Update. Load times are not very consistent between systems, used times on the leaderboard for testing. Times varied from 3.900 seconds - 6 seconds. Without getting too technical, it seems making an autosplitter for this game that would manually remove loading times isn't an option. Due to the way this game was programed, every time you are in a cinematic the game considers that a "load" and not just the standard loading screen we see when transitioning between areas. Cutscenes are the same length for everyone, so there is no reason to remove them or for me to manually go through every run and retime all of them to fit with this if I did decide to make this the standard. Finding another value is a no go, they all come back false I would need to manually remove the actual load screens every time I verify someone's run, which is just too much for me to do right now, especially since I am I moderator 2 of the most popular games on speedrun.com right now (Which, is why it sometimes can take me a bit to get to your run). I can look into an autosplitter again at another time. |

Hey all. Times are becoming very close to each other and potentially getting faster loads than someone else could ruin the competition. Since times are becoming very close to one another, I believe it is necessary to take the load between the first and second area of the game into consideration, someone who has a faster and better computer may (and likely will) get a faster load than someone who has a worse computer. I will do some testing to figure out how consistent the loads are between systems, if they are very different I believe we should make this leaderboards standard use time without loads. Feel free to leave your own opinions in this thread |
