sounds like an awful category where you would just go on bowsers castle, get the 1st box, pull a green and throw it at the wall from which it would bounce back at you and you'll have done it in like 5 seconds.

You have to get to 1st and then throw the shell. The shell must target you.

Yes you can! There are no rules that ban the use of smart steering.

I mean Shine Thief speedruns already exist so why not do it for the rest of the battle modes

The 16-track categories are the nitro tracks, retro tracks and bonus tracks. The mods also didn't include 32 tracks in the rules because its a dead category.
