The only thing you aren’t factoring in is we can manipulate Soda’s Delays by holding right after his opening hooks.

If you don’t hold right soda can give 4 potential delays before either he hooks again or goes into uppercuts: Delay 0, 1, 2, or 3

If you hold right Soda is guaranteed to only give 2 delays before he hooks or goes into uppercuts: Delay 0 or 2

RetroArch is a front end emulator which would provide an unfair advantage to this game which can’t be duplicated on original console. Nestopia by itself is perfectly allowed as long as Retro Arch isn’t being used to run the emulator. A list of all the approved emulators are listed under the rules tab. If it isn’t listed, it isn’t allowed.

There is no advantage to adding separate categories for each circuit. A full run of the game takes roughly 20 to 30 minutes real time. The first half of the game isn’t challenging enough to warrant this. There is a category for Another World Circuit which takes out some of the less eventful fights. I’d suggest running that if the full game doesn’t interest you.

Someone did make a program to auto input IGT in the spreadsheet but afaik, they couldn’t get it to be 100% accurate

You could also use livesplit but that spreadsheet is a better choice.

I’m not sure what you are asking but that Google spreadsheet is what we all use to put our times in when doing live runs.

Just recently tried submitting a request to have Gold Punch-Out!! added to SRC to have it's own leaderboard for Single Segment, RTA ect., while maintaining the same submission rules as MTPO. Is it possible for any series mods to look into maybe making this a thing when possible? A lot of us who mod MTPO can mod this game as well since they are both similar minus no Tyson/Dream and 3 fights have different timing than the original game.

Rules have been updated and MISTer FPGA is allowed

After bringing this topic to other mods attention about allowing MISTer FPGA, Zallard chimed in and said he is all for allowing it for MTPO runs. Everyone else is fine with either way so it’s looking like we will get it approved and added to the Rules List as an allowed option.

I did some more digging about this hardware and asked Eon, who is a Zelda 2 mod, to gather more info. Eon left me with some really good info about Mister so I passed that along to all the other MTPO SRC Mods to gather their input. Obviously, it will have to be a collective agreement whether Mister will or won’t be allowed for MTPO. So, I’m trying to be helpful with this topic but I can’t promise it will be allowed and unless a decision is made to allow it, it won’t be allowed. Hopefully we will know soon.

After doing a little research on this device, it’s actually more cost effective to go purchase an NES console at the moment than buying all the parts required to get this hardware working. None of the mods are ignoring this topic. We are very aware of this device. Considering how small this community is, no one is probably going to go out their way to purchase and test this hardware when there are cheaper and better options still available. The DE-10 Nano Kit alone will cost around $200 and is usually out of stock at most retailers who sell it which is 4 times the cost of an NES console and that just one part needed for this device. As far as more people will run the game if this device is allowed is not completely true. There are still a lot of options allowed to submit runs and plenty of easier and/or cheaper options if anyone really wants to dedicate their time to this game. If anyone wants to learn and run this game they won’t let this one thing prevent them from achieving that. We encourage anyone who has interest to run this game. It’s very rewarding once you improve your skills.

Luma3ds won’t be allowed for any submissions. The rules have a small list of hardware and emulators that is allowed. I’d stick with what’s allowed under the rules tab when you are ready to submit attempts. You can play and practice on any platform you like but only submit using what’s allowed under the rules.

There are 4 emulators listed under the rules tab that is permitted when submitting any attempts. You can use any emulator to play and practice the game but submissions have to be with one of those 4 to be verified.

Basically what Pap said. There isn’t really anything besides practice the timing and find your rhythm. One visual cue you could use that could help a bit is, after the first face punch, Tyson’s head will snap back, use that snap as a sort of guide to help time the delayed frame perfect second punch.

The TAS can’t even get Piston 2 that low. It would only be possible if you either A: used a game genie or B: hacked the game. If this was done legit and you can show video proof, It might get looked into more.
