Considering the fact that some users have gotten banned for having said things on discord over 3 years ago (such as @Lor) I wouldn't say it's especially difficult. Also for the guy in the pronouns thread, you can say it's a clear troll, but if we are going to start permabanning trolls then where is my ban?

Moderators can add a runners times for them in the case that the user is banned. Banning the user simply means that they can't submit the runs on their own. But I do agree with your post overall, sort of. I actually have thought about this recently and I don't think we should ban users for cheating either, but we should put a big banner on their profile saying "this guy cheated in X game, press HERE to read more" with maybe a summary of what they did.

Also I only noticed that they have 2 twitters linked now, will other leaderboards also be getting the ability to have multiple links on their page or do I need to pay money for that? If so, how much?

What a shitshow.

Holy shit, finally someone I can hate on this site that talks like a normal person and not like a fucking corporate droid (I'm looking at you @SpeedrunComSpeedrunCom )

one that is now getting boosted by the ads, sure, but I'd think these people joining are ones that actually like the game, they dont seem like robots when I talk to them

Why does this point matter at all? Ofc only people that like an advertised product will use it, but that doesn't make advertising any less irritating.

Speaking of mod tools... we'll be releasing our Moderator Hub tool next week. The initial launch focuses on improving the run verification tool. It will make it easier to see the verification queue status for games you moderate, find runs in different states more easily, see all of the metadata (variables, etc) for a run in one place, and easily review then verify/reject without navigating away from the page.

I appreciate this, but this is also the feature that is the least useful to moderators, especially when there are already community tools that do this exact thing. What is the status like of other moderator tools such as the "news" or "articles" or whatever you guys called them (I dont remember) for each game page, or maybe tools for mass moving runs from one category to another, etc.?

- This is a limited time promotion and the game will be treated exactly like others once it's over

1) Is this not how an ad works? I don't see why that matters
2) Does this mean all other games are going to get a second discord button? Or is that going to be taken away from the pr*moted game?

You guys say this literally every single time, yet nothing seems to change.

In a series of future updates we're going to tackle the mess that is levels/subcategories/variables

If you can make a v2 of the API where I can work with categories/variables without developing terminal cancer I will love you forever

The only reason I haven't is because when this site gets a few million users I'll be able to sell my username.

>Buy site
>Talk about how much community matters
>Ignore the whole community while you do nothing but graphical changes for the first few weeks
>Keep ignoring the community while you just put ads and trackers everywhere
>Put news articles in peoples profiles
>Lock the stickied threads in favor of a support hub regular users cant see responses to
>Finally actually communicate with the community after ignoring them for ages and talk about how much you care about them
>Promise epic new mod features for the summer
>Have the site down almost 24/7
>Finally fix the site
>Ignore the entire community for another month or two while doing 0 noticeable work on the site
>Add a little button on leaderboards with too many runs to hide excess runs, except the button doesn't actually work (testing is bloated)
>Add promoted runs and show some random guy streaming on twitch on the front page instead of an actual marathon thats going on

Why do I even use this site anymore.

Now that all the ELO hate has died down in the forums (maybe it'll come back now lul) I feel like we've basically just gone back to where we were with Pac, except Pac didnt shove ads or sponsorships down my thoat.

Just make the API paid already.

If mods don't have the time to verify runs because they're too busy irl, they need to add more.

@11 Just want to let you know that Bigotry in general (being either a racist, transphobe, homophobe, xenophobe, sexist, ableist... one or more of these) isn't an opinion, but yes hate-speech and it's considered a crime in many places. If someone's banned for either of those things, especially in a place where people from minority groups exist, it's very well deserved. Arguing against the people that take action against bigotry is not really the hill you want to die on.

In what world is believing in 2 genders hate speech? I don't recall him saying anything remotely transphobic, just expressing the fact that he believes there is no in-between when it comes to gender, and gender is one of those things that doesn't really have a set meaning that everyone agrees on so it's something that actually can be debated unlike someone saying "I don't believe homosexuality is real"

New account, registered today, literally first action (within the hour of registering) is a post on this very thread basically mocking pronouns, after which they repeatedly do so. Clearly a sock account. You'd have to be naive not to think that.

Just because its probably an alt/throwaway doesn't mean its a troll. If I was going to share some of my views on some topics in these forums I would definitely do it on an alt just to avoid all the ensuing shit being thrown my way for the next 6 months.

Oh I know it's been the case, but on a site this big you normally don't expect it to be so blatant. I can understand people not agreeing with his views, I certainly don't agree with everything he said, but he wasn't going out of his way to actively insult anyone over it imo, nor is there any evidence of him discriminating users because of his views. As for the trolling, fantastic, lets go ban users from submitting runs to leaderboards because they made a troll forum post! By that reasoning my account should have been permabanned a year ago. (Not a jab at you, but at the admins)

Nice to see that users can now get banned for expressing opinions that admins don't agree with

Also the Bavarian flag isn't displaying, might wanna fix that

I highly recommend moving to Matrix, it is better than Discord in almost every way.

People will whine about "omg I prefer using discord" but the truth is that making a matrix account will take you at most 1 minute and the experience is just so much better. I've seen communities go from IRC to Skype to Discord, its not like changing platforms is super hard or impossible.

It's better to move now then move later when the community is both larger and discord has gone to shit.

@ActuallyEliteActuallyElite what do you want from an app that you cannot get from a website?

@DareDare I wouldn't like that, I think just the forums is enough. Id rather they focus their effort on improving the speedrunning functions of the site and leave the social stuff to platforms that focus specifically on that issue. Also allowing video uploads would be stupid expensive for the site since it'll take LOTS of space.
