I'm not sure how All Levels NG+ in ride again works, but i think that the levels are structured differently in paf1 so that it would not work as well. Nevertheless, if you do a run and propose a fair ruleset, we could probably work something out

There's actually a dedicated group of routers in the btt (best theoretical time) server, and they are usually working on some route or another. Currently there seems to be a sand reroute and a metro reroute. Here is a link to the btt server: http://bit.ly/OdysseyBTT

Thread: Swimming in Air Glitch for 2 Captures?

Actually, there is an airswim glitch in lake/seaside kingdom, which are both rare loading defects of sorts (you can read about it here: https://smo-speedrun.fandom.com/wiki/Airswim). However, this is not relevant to the ruined kingdom as there is no infinitely large water source throughout the kingdom like there is in lake/seaside. "if we JUST had an airswimming glitch in ruined kingdom" is a statement that makes equal sense as "we could skip the ruined wire if we could JUST fly or teleport there". Both of them have no way that they could be possible with our current knowledge or have any backing as to why they might be possible in the future.

As a 2p runner, I believe that it would be fair to add 2p sub categories for the other categories IF there were lots of runs. Currently, it is not justified to add more 2p sub categories, and it is possible that it never will be. However, the door is not closed if 2p runs of wp, dark, and darker become REALLY popular. You can dm me on discord 04dude3#6805 if you have any 2p runs that are not any% to collect/document these runs.

As someone who has extensively looked into minimum story moons, any% min story moons is actually identical to optimal any% except for snow kingdom, where 2 moons would have to be replaced. Max moons minimum story moons is definitely a unique category, however after looking into it more, I found that it has a few things that make the speedrun of it worse and it pushed me away from looking into it further.

I think what "less loads" means is that since the run ends earlier than any%, so the run has less loading screens than any%, meaning that 1.3 saves less time over 1.0 (since fms saves 25 seconds and sand has sphynx clip stuff). However, the time saved by 1.0 specific tricks has decreased with new findings that benefit either only 1.3 or benefit 1.3 more, such as first moon clip (rcc to skip using the chain chomp), dss, which saves more in 1.3 than 1.0, and dsta, which makes the sphynx clip route save less time. I THINK that 1.3 is better than 1.0 for festival%, and it's definitely much more convenient to use and also easier to be optimal with it.

Letter escape glitch is allowed, but I'm sure anyone can learn the normal way with some practice (make sure to do short jumps by tapping the jump button for as little time as possible). For volleyball, stand in the middle and throw cappy to where the ball will land. Volleyball takes a lot of patience as well as skill, so it's really important to practice. Good luck!

You can submit it with a rough timing by checking the timestamp of the video when you start and when you finish. The mods will retime it anyway

1. Splits are not required
2. Capture card isn't required (you can use phone or webcam just fine)
3. You are allowed to go out of the game and change setting stuff like controllers and the time

DSTA works on all versions of the game. Coin duplicating with the dinosaur was not possible on 1.0, but it is possible in all subsequent versions. There is a 1.1 specific glitch that does not work on 1.2+ or 1.0. It is a special type of turnip clip using a pan bro that puts you into the ground below you (this is different from normal turnip clip). Other than these things, I don't know of any glitches that were patched in that aren't related to new things (like luigi's balloon world/vr mode). Luigi hint arts (that give you coins) only exist on version 1.2+.

Also, 1.0 loading times and glitches have been tested against 1.3: 1.3 digital is definitely faster than 1.0, and the last time it was tested, 1.3 physical was barely slower than 1.0, although with new tricks that have been discovered, I would not be surprised if 1.3 physical is faster than 1.0 with our current knowledge.

1.0 is not in use anymore for any%, so the routes that we previously used are not optimal and can likely be improved. The 1.0 route is only different from the 1.3 route in cascade, sand, and possibly luncheon (turnip clip may not be the fastest anymore if a spewartless route is factored in). Cascade just uses fms (optimally with dss), sand has many possible routing options, and luncheon used to use turnip clip instead of pulling the lever under the cheese (again, this is probably not the fastest route). Those are the only differences i can think of.

I think it was timed to be faster, but it doesn't help in any% and the timesave is small. If you want to play in tabletop, then that's fine, it shouldn't be banned or even sub-catted imo. Banning tabletop would be like banning physical (cartridge).

If you are referring to how the splits changed from -0.9 to +1.5, it's because he changed his comparison from his personal best to his sum of best. You can hear him press a key on his keyboard as it happens (you can set changing the comparison on livesplit to hotkey shortcuts).

Having a variable like "number of captures" and then ordering the leaderboard based around that and time is currently impossible on SRC. If someone wants to submit a low capture run that isn't the minimum, they could submit it to Grady's leaderboard.

I believe that this format has been brought up, but SRC (speedrun.com) does not allow this type of leaderboard to exist. I can talk to Grady and we could update that leaderboard/use it more frequently, but it won't happen on SRC. The format is good because it works well for completion runs, but it also allows for speedruns to fit on the board.

1. The category idea has been brought up in the past, definitely not an interesting category. 0 uniqueness, it's literally one load then you jump off the edge as soon as you wake up. 40 seconds long.
2. Why did you say that 2p and amiibo are allowed but assist mode is banned. There is no reason for this. Amiibo can only give you a 6 heart, invincibility, or show you where purple coins are. Assist mode and 2p would not change the run either (gameplay in 2p is identical to 1p before you get cappy). So what spurred you on to include that in your post? I'm confused. Did you think about what you were going to post, or just conjure up the idea, write, and send it all within 3 minutes.
3. There is a Google form to submit category ideas to (they require a completed run of the category btw). Please don't submit death% to the form unless you have already done so. If you already submitted it, then I see no reason in making a forum post about it.

In settings on your switch console, you have to turn auto-updates off. Also, 1.3 is the fastest version to speedrun on unless you are planning on running a category that requires a 1.0 glitch (3 captures, star%).

Before completing the game, the lake hint art moon in cascade does not count as a moon to deposit in your inventory unless you are in lake kingdom. Once you complete the game, you can deposit moons from any kingdom into the odyssey.
