As long as it doesn't add functionalities that the original controller doesn't have (turbo, macros, etc) it's good to go.

I'll pitch Les Suites in Ottawa, it's in the heart of the market close to pretty much everything relevant (tourist wise), lots of food places and bars that are open till 2am ish and a few open 24 hours (Zak's Diner has great food, Dunn's is also a nice place). Getting there is either a 20 minute car ride from YOW, or a 36 minute bus ride with no transfers (according to google maps). A liquor store and grocery store (LCBO and Metro) 500 meters away for those trying to cut down on eating out. It's also basically connected to a pretty big mall and there are a few other hotels in the area that would be good to compare prices with.

The good:

  • The one room setup went a lot better than I had originally thought. Big fan.
  • Hotel perks were great, lots of food choices close by and things to see and do.
  • Shirts were super cool, so were stickers.
  • No major tech issues as far as I can remember.
  • General event management went on without much problem from my eyes.
  • Mafia.

The improvable:

  • Wi-fi sucked ass, even in my hotel room which was 17 steps from the front desk (more the hotel's fault than NASA's).
  • Communication on various things such as event changes could have been improved.
  • As much as I'd rather have NASA in Canada, going back to the USA might be better for a wider demographic. Maybe flip flop it every year, since we've been in Canada 3 times in a row.
  • Having something on screen during intermission other than the room cam would have been nice at times, especially in the morning.
  • Organizing trips (wonderland) could have been done before the marathon started.
  • Some runners were only there for their game and then left, we need to coerce them into staying and doing shit with us.
  • We need to get Nando back.

Bane as Luck would be the next best option, however we want 38 magic at the end of the run and Luck as a bane would also decrease Magic growths by 5% (more specifically, Luck -10%, Strength -5% and Magic -5%) which now drops our average of magic from 39 to 37, lower then what the minimum we need for the boss. It is random level ups though, so it's possible you get 38, and worst case you can always second seal to level 1 again to spare your magic stat.

Difficulty might be a good idea, but unless someone has serious intention of running it, there' no point in adding the option for it just to stay empty. I'm sure if someone posts a hard/maniac run the mods would consider it.

Level leaderboards wouldn't make sense in this game (or any Fire Emblem game) because you could spend as much time as you want grinding the previous chapters until your characters get maxed out, making the runs irrelevant. It would sorta be like a Pokémon Gym IL, where you have level 100 pokes.

Recently the decision to ban emulators have been revoked by the community due to a number of factors (emu accuracy was the big one), however, the moderation team will only be allowing a specific emulator with specific rules.

For emulator submissions: Using BizHawk with the mGBA core is required. Make sure the GBA BIOS is set, then go to GBA>Settings...>Sync Settings and set "Skip BIOS" to "False". When reseting a run, reset the whole core by pressing Ctrl + R so the BIOS is visible in video. Input display for emulator is also required. Martin made a handy video here:

All other submissions using non-official versions of the game will be rejected, including (but not limited to): wii homebrew emulators, phone emulators, other PC emulators, everdrives/flashcarts, etc.

For any questions or specifications, feel free join our discord and message any of the leaderboard mods.

if by "homebrew hacks" you mean NTR then no since it forces the processor to run faster, making the game overall faster (and therefore inaccurate compared to people running on a unmodded system)

There are actually many games that use IGT over RTA and many of these games do things that are slower for real time but save time on the in game timer, this game isn't the only one. The game was designed with bonus objectives in mind and the community decision is to follow whatever it's said at the end of the game

In-game time is generally preferred when possible since it doesn't have things like load times and lag which could affect time. The point of speedrunning is mastery of a game which, although I usually don't like the bonus objectives (looking at you No Traction Action), it does fall in the same vein as "to be at the top you need to be good"

this is the general mario party discord, we could probably ask for our own MPIT channel or something

for this marathon the runs are done live and preferably with commentary from the runner, but if someone else is available and knows the game well they can commentate the run while the runner plays

gonna agree on that, for many 3ds games just having a camera pointed at the screen is enough and super cheap, no reason not to do it

JP vs U vs PAL differences are more or less the same throughout every console choice, jp is slightly faster due to text, text speed and cart movement in some areas while PAL looses a lot due to running at a lower framerate.

The biggest differences between versions is lag and how demanding oak is with centered pics. There is more lag on the wii version, probably due to terrible optimization, but if I had to guess there's only about 5-10 seconds timeloss vs N64 if you're good at lag reduction. The Wii U version has no lag and saves roughly 40 seconds compared to N64. Centered pics does't seem like much but it does make N64 much easier, and there's also a strat we use in River 1 that won't work on wii or wii u due to this difference.
