I've been working away at getting a decent run with the new cata-cannon speedtech for a little while now. I got it down to 31m04s a few weeks ago, but I messed up so much in the latter half of the run I wasn't prepared to show myself up by submitting it. Since then every good run died in the Lost Land through one fuckup or another, until this one. Sure, there are time losses. But aside from the tricks I don't try, it's only little things here or there that could be better. Hub was going fine until I looked too far down and didn't get a jump on the water. Ancient City felt like a bit of a fumble all the way through. Body blocks, missed jumps and uncooperative NPCs were all just about made up for by a decent Longhunter fight. Jungle is Jungle. Not much to say about it really. Catacombs, and something always has to go wrong here. The glitchy climb I got is very unusual. Missing the one-shot arrow on the priest, less so. The Ruins wasn't the worst. I was nearly crowded out of the checkpoint skip, but got through just in time. My jump was eaten a bit trying to hop on the gate at the end, but I'm not bitter. Treetop Village was, well, it was a gold split, and I'm never going to complain about that. Lost Land, my nemesis, though not today. Another gold split, even with the over-eager one-shot attempt on the trike. Unloading on Mantis with the auto shotgun between fusion cannon shots 2 and 3 helps with the inconsistent damage she can take. The run was blessed. Final Confrontation, and my heart was going a bit at this point. But not long into the map I realised that there's very little that can go wrong here and I settled into it. It's really only the boss battles you have to worry about, and apart from some missed grenades on Thunder and a kitten demanding attention making me veer off my line into the last portal before Campaigner, it all went quite smoothly.
