I'm keen to do more runs of this game but I have no method of capturing from my Playstation directly so I need to run the game on Emu for the time being, but there's been a ton of discoveries lately related to the inaccuracy of PSXJin, as well as accounting for things such as console models/modchips etc.
Given all the new info that's come out, what is the current 'most accurate' way to play this game on Emu? Is it still on PSXJin or are we swapping to something different?
I'm looking to start running this game and I noticed in the rules, ''Passive Enemies glitch is forbidden.''
How exactly does this glitch work so I know how to avoid it in a run?
Requesting either Super Mod or Mod status for The Crooked Man: https://www.speedrun.com/the_crooked_man
My run has only been up for a week but I believe there is 3/4 WR runs from multiple runners waiting to be verified, and the current Super Mod (and only mod for the game in general) has been offline for over a year. I figured that since there's no way he'll be checking in on the game, I would message him on one of his social links but they are also expired; his Twitter and Discord are seemingly offline completely. I think it's fair to say that the mod will not be returning to manage the game.
The 25:10 run in the Only Eyes Can Tell the Truth category has a Happy End run as the current WR.
The difference between the two runs is which side of the door you smoke on when playing as the big sister.
Looking to apply for SuperMod status for Purgatory: https://www.speedrun.com/Purgatory
The current game mod has been offline for over a month, and has no form of communication on his own page.
While I appreciate that I only uploaded my run very recently, I've seen other runners have issues trying to get times on the board as they are being rejected for alledged "hacking of game files", which has been proven false. The old SuperMod removed himself after he was brought to task about it, as the community Discord believes that the current and old moderator have been declining runs to maintain their positions on the board.
I can ensure that the board is kept updated and accurate.
tl;dr i'm requesting SuperMod because the current mod is inactive, unreachable, and has insufficient knowledge of the game to properly moderate it in the first place.
@Daravae Has there been any word in contacting the current/inactive Witch's House mod? The game now has a WR run awaiting verification.
Hey there. I'm looking to start running this again and I've started using Psxjin after seeing it recommended in other forum posts. Is there a specific setup of video settings that should be used to make the emulator as close to the PS1 as possible? I know that on the Silent Hill 1 boards, emulators MUST be set up in a specific way for authenticity and consistency, or the run will be rejected. Does the same rule apply here or are video settings optional?
Hello. I have requested this previously but I would again like to request Mod status on Witch's House ( https://www.speedrun.com/The_Witchs_House ), as the current moderator, despite being active 5 days ago, has not validated my run which has been sitting for shy of 4 weeks now. Last time I submitted a run, it was close to a month and a half before it was validated, and I still have two (now obsolete anyway) runs which have been sitting for 4 months without being addressed, and I am aware of others awaiting validation through the game's Discord server.
The current (and only) mod has not responded to me on his Twitter or Discord, and the game requires more attention that it's currently receiving.
Requesting mod status on Witch's House: https://www.speedrun.com/The_Witchs_House#Any
Had a run sat for well over a month and have now had to resubmit it as the first submission seems to have expired for some reason. The game has only one mod and I've not had a reply from him when I tried to contact him on Twitter.
Hello! Glad to have you join the community :)
When it comes to the key order, I would currently recommend following the WR route for collecting the keys, as my own route has been made obsolete since and I haven't had another shot at running it in a while. While the WR run has the best route so far though, there's always room for improvement as we're still a small community and the most optimal routes likely haven't been found yet.
Hope that answered your question well enough, haha. Good luck on your speedruns!
Think the first theory might be onto something, since I can't think of any times when I've pressed 5 buttons together, so it's maybe overloaded the game a bit? I'll test it and see what results I get; hopefully it's just some freak error that won't pop up again!
Strange, never seen that happen before. Any idea at all what caused it or is it just a random thing?
I'm really interested in running this game, but I'd prefer to play the Definitive Edition due to similarities with steam's Mad Father, which I already have experience with.
Would a mod be able to make categories for Definitive Edition or would that require a new page to be made for it?
Thread title, couldn't find another thread for it.
What PS2 emulator is the most accurate to console for speedrunning?
''Until these problems with doping are rectified on speedrun.com (which, judging by the number of drug addicts in this thread, won't be for a long time) my tapes will not be posted to this website.''
Literally, the best!
Yeah I'm running Windows 10, but I can't downgrade back to 7 since I only got this PC last week with Win10 pre-installed. I hope that's not the case, but I'll look further into that. Thanks!
