The idea is that you can store speed that is higher than normal running speed and use it later in the game. However, no matter how much speed you stored the storage will always break if you do running jumps so what you wanna do instead is a walking jump. There are also some other ways that can make you lose the speed but I´m not aware of them or they don´t happen if you take the Any% route. Assuming you are talking about the PlayStation version there are three different instances of speed storage. The one on Moskito´s Nest 2 is the important one. There are actually two different ways to set it up. Both of these setups are on Mr. Sax, the previous level. You can either use a slippery downslope in front of the cymbals or a ring. The strat with the cymbals is around 1 - 2 seconds faster but harder. I personally never got into that so I can´t explain you how to execute it very well. That doesn´t count for the ring setup. You want to regrab the ring on the left side after breaking the final cage of Mr. Sax and then let yourself swing to the left. The first thing is jumping off and doing a tetherboost which means that you make the magical line between your fist and the ring as long as possible. Therefore you want to overshoot the ring and then hold left until you are far away from the ring. Doing that tetherboost gives you more than running speed. After a short time you will regrab the ring still facing left. From here on you mustn´t press left, right, up or down because otherwise the setup won´t work. The only thing you have to do is jumping in order to cancel the swing right before you line up vertically with the ring. If you did everything right you should see Rayman getting rolling speed. Using it in Moskito´s Nest is simple. Again don´t use running jumps until you are on the plum. Then: Start running and jump off of the plum as late as you can. If you need visual material just take a look at some of the runs on the leaderboards, that should help.

Changes to the leaderboard

Hello there,

There's been a bunch of changes to the leaderboard. We've added an Any% Category for Rayman on PS1 since that version is now beatable with the use of a Memory Card Manipulation. Essentially being able to warp to Mr. Dark's Dare, skipping the need for collecting all the cages.
