@Carrots Ok, I just saw you neutral run. I didn't know that just talking to him over and over was a 3rd option to end the fight.

I don't agree with this. I feel like killing a monster in Pacifist is a done deal run killer. The only enemy it doesn't matter for is the Frog at the beginning cause what route you decide to take doesn't start until you fall after pressing the switch.

I'm using a new Laptop now, so I got to reinstall my KQ Games, but @pawdugan just reminded me of something.

When I was doing some runs a while back, I got something similar to the old-man-fixing-up-cedric cutscene skip you said you got in the French Version. Once I got into the old man's house and it transitions to a close up of the old man and king graham, I was able to skip all dialog at that point. Only got this 1 time.

I'm wondering if you mash too fast/time your mash, the game can't read the normal data file and it looks for another that's similar, which in this case was the French Version. Sounds crazy, but I'm wondering if that's why. That might also be the case for all the other skips that randomly happen.

There are so many RNG Moments that some seem possible to remove while others don't. I think I learned some ways, but not 100% sure. This Comment will be edited when more info is found.

Movement/Battle Cards: This is RNG not worth trying to removing. I've seen a TAS or 2 even having trouble with this. This goes for both you and the enemies. RNG too strong here.

Enemy Encounters: This is where most time can be saved. I think I'm slowly on to something here. Seems that being on a Water Tile or closer to the Boss of the Map makes stronger encounters happen more often. This might not be the case however.

7-Card Item match Mini-game: This is something I think could be messed with. Sadly the only thing I've noticed is that the Bulma Item Card seems to appear a lot. Bulma heals so little HP that it's basically a waste of Inventory Space. Need More chances of Escape, Korin, Chi-Chi, and Gramp Gohan Item Cards.

Rock Carry Mini-game: There are 4 different versions of this. Rock Carry(Everyone can do), Snake Road Rock Carry(Goku), Bubbles Rock Carry(Goku), and Gregory Rock Carry(Goku). Even thou they play all the same, because the names are different, I think all 4 have a different RNG Path. Combine that with the fact you use the Movement/Battle Cards, you can't trick this one.

I'm not going to bother with specs, just know I use a Windows 7 laptop. Besides I need to wait a day or 2 for a charger so I can use my laptop. I might not bother doing runs of KQ for a while anyway. I can see the game being smoother if I just record it and don't stream, but I don't want to do that.

Congrats on the time. Your time save was due to your screen transitions. They are super fast. Your Dosbox cycle was set to Max or 10,000 right? I know my transitions are slow due to overheating computer, but your transitions were faster then Pawdugan's, which I though was fast as possible.

Also I do use Dosbox.

Edit: After watching the first 5 minutes of your run, I noticed the whole game is running faster.

I would love that too, but the reason it's not is a valid reason. The Website soniccenter.org has a Sonic Battle Section dedicated to the challenge mode. You try to go for the highest score and speed is just one of the factors in getting a high score

@kobepilgrim If you're into GB, GBC, and GBA games I recommend Quest RPG: Brian's Journey. It's like quest 64, but done better.

One for GBA that I recommend for Casual and maybe a speedrun in the future(No runs or Leaderboard for the game) is Onimusha Tactics. An amazing Tactics game that got swept under the rug.

tópico: Speedrunning

The only one is King's Quest 1 VGA with a time of 5:12. That's not including the Esc to skip walk method with is it's own category. The Original King's quest 1 is 11:50 if you're ok with going a bit over.

I was wondering if anyone might be interested in running some of these games. These are really fun to run(Believe it or not on some). If you do decide to run one of these, Whisper me on Twitch cause it doesn't warn me about getting a PM.

(NES) DBZ: Kyoushuu Saiyajin (Can use Eng. Patch and Made a guide.) DBZ Sagas (Only do it if you can take the pain, also Gamecube is best.) (GBC) Resident Evil Gaiden (This game doesn't deserve all the hate it gets.) Five Nights at F¤¤Kboy's Series (Even if you don't like and are tired of FNAF, this is still worth running.) King's Quest 1-7 and VGA Remakes 1 and 2 (Now THIS is a series that needs more love.)

Easiest one to learn would be DBZ: Kyoushuu Saiyajin, though it is the longest run.

Hardest is King's Quest 3 for sure because there is no run of it, it's typing based, and you have to make so many spells that you would need to remember pages of text for them. Honestly would try avoiding this one.

They are made to encourage people to run the game.

Stages 2-4 won't use Piccolo because you could just Overlevel him on the first stage and just break them, which is no fun.

Stages 5 and 6 won't have separate categories due to the same reason plus the fact that if you will do stages 5 and 6, you might as well do Any%.

Also recommend using save states to set up the 2 characters you'll use for stages 2-4. Have fun. :)

I did a test and the difference between using the Gate Glitch and not using it is about 10 seconds. I think that's good enough to not have it be aloud in 100% given how optimized you can get the time down . We'll see what Pawdugan thinks. Him and I are the only runnners of this at the moment, thought Pawdugan is more of a youtuber then a speedrunner. Though I think he'd do more of the KQ series at least because of the history he's had with the games.

I have tested this and you are correct. It's kind of crazy that 2 small details like that can change if it's 100% or not. Also the fastest movement for 100% PC now is the same movement I did for my NES run. Also I'm going to try to get to be Mod for this game. That way someone can be more focused on this. Only 100% runs that are correct right now are the NES ones and that version always gives you 100%

Ok so my Any% run didn't get all the points. After some testing it turns out the New Desert Strat didn't cause this. Also it turns out after looking at Pawdugan's run, his Any%/100% run isn't 100% ether. I know this because when he saved, he had 231 Points. Use the cheese is 5 and the whole boss fight gives you 20. 231+25=256 256/260. I know he's off by 4 points because he didn't wait for the game to tell him he's hungry. So when he ate the lamb, it didn't give him the points.

Now I did everything I know is right to get 100% including the Lamb, but somehow I ended up getting only 252 points, 4 more points lost then Paw. So WTF happened? Is there a glitch or something where the game doesn't give you points for no reason?

Edit: For Reference, here is a page showing where you get all the points from. http://www.sierrahelp.com/Misc/PointLists/KQ5Points.html

Edit 2: I looked at the other 2nd place 100% run and that isn't 100% ether. The points there are the same as my Any% WR run. I'm starting to think 100% is not possible. You know the run is 100% if you have 235 Points before throwing the cheese in the machine.

SOLUTION FOUND: Give Stick to Dog and Boot to Cat, Don't use the Iron Bar/Gate Glitch

I found the Forest one a while ago, I just haven't tried running the game with it yet. Found out that if your computer overheats too much, the screen transitions slow down so that has been giving me trouble.

The Cassima one is actually pretty cool. Nice Find.

The Desert one is somewhat confusing, but I think I understand.

One thing I do want to Add is getting captured by the Blue Rat. After giving Cassima the Family Necklace thing. You head right and past the Piano Hall. It's actually better to get caught in that Hall. You can stand where the middle of the Hall is and he can appear after about 3-5 seconds. Sometimes he can appear instantly and crash right into you when you're just heading right to go past, though that is EXTREMELY RARE. It happen to me once during an already failed run and that's the only time it has ever happened to me.

Actually another thing to add is knowing when you got the fast RNG for when Mordak appears so you can grab his wand. If you capture the Blue Rat in the Room after the Piano Hall and Capture the Mannanon Cat in the same room as where Mordak Appears, Mordak will appear as fast as possible. That's 1 Minute and 30 seconds AFTER you Read the Magic Book.

I have never captured the Blue Rat in the Piano Hall though so that could change RNG to be faster. So the Blue Rat and Mannanon Cat Captures determine how fast Mordak Appears.

Ok I did more testing and I got a frame perfect Click on the book. As soon as I went to the Screen with the Book, Graham instantly went to the book even before the loading mouse icon even appeared. Sadly, this did not do the Book Skip.

So this tells me that the mashing trick only works for the Crowbar. Something done in the game somehow messes with the coding of the game that makes the other Skips happen.

o.0 When you said Previous Screen I looked at my highlights again and I think you're right.

For the Book Skip I was already mashing before I fully enter the Screen(When I went back to test, I didn't do this) and the game already noticed my Input for the Book. So Because of that, it didn't give full control yet so the game went to go read the book, but sense full control is supposed to come first before clicking on anything, it loaded the screen control instead of the Book.

It might be the same for the Ice Queen as well as when testing, I only started mash when the Queen was about to start talking.

You might just need to start mashing on the screen that's before what you want to Skip. That might be the solution for all the Skips.

There are some Skips in the game, but they are very tricky.

The Harpies Skip (No example)

The Castle Grate Skip:

The Magic Book Reading Skip:

The Ice Queen Skip:

I don't think the Ice Queen Skip was ever known. I knew about the other 3 though. In terms of which ones are easier, Castle Grate Skip is the easiest, then Magic Book Reading Skip, then it's probably a tie between the Harpies Skip and Ice Queen Skip for being the hardest.

Sadly all of these Skips are Frame Perfect. A Mouse button isn't the only thing you want to mash. For Castle Grate Skip and Magic Book Reading Skip, mash Mouse and Enter Buttons together. For Harpies Skip and Ice Queen Skip, mash Mouse and Esc Buttons Together.

One annoying problem I've been experiencing with the VGA Remakes is that in Windowed Mode, the Mouse/Cursor will not stay in the Game Window. This is a Problem because Windowed Mode is best for recording runs. You'll lose a good chunk of time as soon as you accidentally click out of the window.

If anyone knows how to fix this problem let me know.

tópico: King's Quest

Their are 4 more Games that need to be added. KQ1 VGA Remake, KQ2 VGA Remake, KQ3 VGA Remake, and KQ3 VGA Redux. I've done runs of KQ1 VGA Remake and plan to do the second one. I never really liked the 3rd game, but it has 2 remakes so it's only fair that they are added as well.
