Hey guys,

I'm new to the online community for Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine. I just managed to install the game on my laptop, and I intend to start running it soon! I used to run it for myself back in the day (like 10 years ago), but I never recorded or timed any of my runs then...

I'm interested in running the full game, and I have a question regarding the label "100%". Does it just mean that it's the full game (i.e. all 17 levels in one segment) or does it also mean that all treasures need to be found? That can play on the time a lot!

Thanks in advance and I look forward to talking with you guys soon! Cheers!

100% is all treasures, I guess calling the category "All Treasures" instead of 100% would be more correct. Any% is just getting to the end as fast as possible. Furthermore categories are seperated in full-game runs (doing all levels from start to ending credits) and individual levels (ILs). There is also a difference if you do it all in one sitting (RTA=Real Time Attack) or in segments (where you can save as much as you want and edit out failed attempts to optimize your speedrun whenever you want, provided one level follows another and not random saves of course). Another category is "Glitchless" where the use of glitches is not allowed.

So not to confuse you in short you can do: Full-game Any% (RTA), Full-game Any% (segmented), Full-game All Treasures (RTA), Full-game All Treasures (segmented). All of these can also be done "Glitchless" so 8 possibilities in total. Same applies for ILs. Since not many have done a speedrun you have all the choice in the world. I can add the specific category that you want to do to the boards later when you have a run ready.

Also note for full-game RTA runs you would somehow need to record your IQ window that gets displayed at the end of a level, so the mods can verify how much time it took you in those screens since one sitting counts. In segmented runs or ILs that doesn´t matter. Some software like Fraps or Dxtory doesn´t record that window for whatever reason, maybe using OBS with screen capture or something would be a solution.

Edit: And one more thing, someone in another thread noticed some strange behaviour of the game where at really high fps you can clip through some places where you normally can´t. So I would recommend to cap the fps to a max of 60 (if your game doesn´t it itself which it should) since that seems to be the normal fps in this game.

Does OBS have a timer in it? I downloaded WSplit and it won't show in-game. I initially wanted to go with XSplit to record but it wouldn't work so I'll give OBS a try since you brought it up!

edit: Also, can you tell me how you manage to record the game window? I can record the menu and the savefile selection, but once I get in the game itself, I lose the image and only get the sound... Thanks!

No, OBS is just a streaming/capture software. I just tried myself with OBS and FFsplit (another program similiar to OBS) and i had the problem that wsplit did show up, but the passing time didn´t render on the video while I was ingame even though it was actually running... also the recording was kinda choppy, but maybe my setup was bad. I used Monitor capture (game/window capture doesn´t record the IQ window) and set the region to 800x600 which is my game resolution, screen needs to be set on top left. For wsplit i used window capture. Trying another timing program might work, dunno. Or maybe you can live without a timer? You can always put the video in some program like virtualdub and look up the precise time there.

As for my IL runs, I did record them with Dxtory since I don´t need to capture the IQ window after a completed level. Also I set up my game resolution to 800x600 since that is also the size of the loading screen. That way Dxtory won´t split the recordings into different sized parts.

I renamed the "100% PC" category to "All Treasures PC" to be more precise. 100% could also mean getting all medkits and so on.. Also added the info to the full-game run rules that the IQ window needs to be visible after level completion.

@samlab: I saw that you quicksaved in your run, but since you didn´t reload your run counts. The IL runs should be single segment in order to avoid abusing reloading a quicksave.

@Molotok: Quicksaving is a nasty habit of mine indeed... I wasn't exactly sure if quicksaving was allowed or not in single segments. Also, I wasn't too sure about the definition of "single segment". The way I saw it was that it was in one standing, so not necessarily without quicksaves. Of course, I understand that it would be easy to edit other segments in the reloading cinematic, but I figured that since my runs are going to be taken directly from my streams, it wouldn't matter so much. But thanks for specifying!

Btw what OBS settings do you use, specifically "Encoding", "Video", "Audio" and "Advanced" settings and what sort of capture "Monitor, Window or Game"?? Yours looked quite good and it didn´t chop that much. Whenever I tried to record something locally it always was extremely choppy.

I use display capture because it's the only one that actually lets me record the game window itself... It's like the game isn't in a window in itself so I can't use window or game capture to get only that. That's the reason why the first and last images of all of my streams are my OBS :P I change my screen resolution to 1024 x 768 (the lowest my display allows) before I start recording. Here are the settings I used for yesterday's stream. I hope you liked how the graphics looked then: /////OUTPUT: Output Mode: Simple Video Bitrate: 1500 Encoder: Software (x264) Audio Bitrate: 160 /////AUDIO: Sample rate: 44.1khz Channels: Stereo Desktop Audio Device: Default (Speakers Realtek High Definition Audio) Mic/Auxiliary Audio Device: Default (Microphone Realtek High Definition Audio) /////VIDEO: Base (Canvas) Resolution: 1366 x 768 Output (Scaled) Resolution: 908 x 512 Downscale Filter: Bicubic (Sharpened scaling, 16 samples) FPS: 30 /////ADVANCED: Process Priority: Normal Video Renderer: Direct3D 11 Color Format: NV12 YUV Color Space: 601 YUV Color Range: Partial Windows audio docking disabled Stream delay disabled

Did I forget anything? Hope it helps!
