Question about GCN/Wii Platforms

Sorry if this is confusing or in the wrong section, this is probably a stupid question lol.

If I want to run Ocarina of Time (as an example) and I only have the GameCube version, can I play it on the Wii?

I know GameCube games work with the Wii, but if the Wii isn't listed as a platform on the page of the game I want to run, can I still run it on the Wii with a GameCube disc? Or is that not allowed?

United States

Ex: if Ocarina of Time says the platforms are N64, GCN, etc. Does that mean I'm not allowed to play the game on a Wii using a GameCube disc?

Vienna, Austria

I'd say you can play it and specify it as GCN, since it's the GCN Version. The Problem is more in the different Games, since each has an other rule-set/opinion/mods for that. You should ask that in the game's forum or contact a mod of the game directly and ask him/her.

You still can afaik, also if it's not listed on the leaderboard (the console i mean), then just say you ran on it in your run comment. Or just contact the mods of the leaderboard about adding the console to it.

Also, i think you might be interested in that; http://www.speedrun.com/oot/thread/oti6s

Thanks for the responses!

PreFiX: Yeah that's what I was thinking.. thanks for the advice!

I think I am going to go on the game's forum about it if I ever decide to run it. Also thanks xDrHellx for the thread that helps!
