If I run a game on ps4 do I need a time to keep track of my time on screen I've never ran a game before and all I have is a ps4 and want some help finding stuff out

depending on what games you plan to run some do have ways of giving you an in game time for completion tho that is still a game to game thing as also something that the games community decides if that is what time will be accepted or if it needs to be Real Time (RTA) using a split timer on a pc etc..

For most people that do have a pc and a capture card that takes HDMI input you can record it directly to your pc with OBS or Xsplit. I personally use a Internal Capture card that is hooked via HDMI cable from my PS4 or other devices through a splitter back to my TV so i can record and play on the two different screens easily.

There is plenty of information on how to go about this but it would require some investment into equipment if you want to record better then just from the console via twitch.
