Any% Normal runs

Hi guys,

I've been reading guides and routes for any% sorceress runs for the past couple of days, my only question is how do you guys normally start practicing for a run? I've played this game casually since the first day it came out (on and off), so I'm very familiar with the game. Should I just go for a run right away and whatever time I get is the time I beat? How do you think I should approach it? Maybe take it act by act? Any input helps!

Personally, I find that doing a segmented run first is the best practice, because you're basically doing one thing over and over (several) hundred times, which makes you remember it really well, and you also find small timesavers here and there that you probably wouldn't discover in a single-segment run. This approach always worked for me better than just doing full runs over and over without much testing and preparation.

I would honestly start with doing runs and try to beat your own time again and again. Dont do resets untill you reach the ~ 2hour mark on the 3 fast chars (sorc / druid / assa)

@Ewil doing a segmented run is a really long process that can burn you out so fast. Believe me the hell any% segmented run almost killed me. ;)

Yeah sorry, I forgot to mention that :D Although it depends on how much you want to optimize it.

I tried doing just act 1 and was 40 minutes in, still at countess trying to level up. Got all the runes required, but was only level 10. So I decided to stop xD (mainly because I had a race starting).

Hey There! I just started speedrunning and decided Diablo 2 should be my first game! Trying to dig around in the community and see where all the most updated and relevant forums and such are. I'm currently just doing Normal Any% RTA and I'm down to about 3 hours on Druid, no recordings yet just getting my feet wet. I wouldn't mind finding others to chat with about it and I'm not sure where I would get started on that! feel free to hmu. Especially wouldn't mind other new runners to run/race with. Cheers!
