Demo Crashed? + Question about loadtimes

Hello guys,

I finally got a decent time today! Ended up completing the game in sub 46 minutes. I packed up my demo to send it in for submission. Before I was going to upload the demo I wanted to check it in-game. Everything was fine until I entered the test chamber. I failed to climb up onto the lamp in time so I reloaded on my save and got it 2nd try. Now the problem is that my demo just stops after that specific reload and will just redirect me to the game interface. Did the demo crash or did I do something wrong? I am certain that I did everything I was supposed to do regarding setting up the game etc. On top of that, the demo is still 18MB in size, despite the demo just abruptly stopping fairly quick into the run.

After completing the run I forgot to write down my final time, is there any way to actually go back and see in what time you finished the run? Also, how do I calculate what my final time was, including the loading times and excluding the loading times?

Sorry for all the questions, since I am so new to this community I figured I'd be best asking my questions here.

Thanks in Advance for taking the time to answer my questions.

  1. "I packed up my demo" unless you did a full single segment run there should be more then 1 demo in that folder not only 1 as a new one should be created everytime you load a save if you used the command bxt_autorecord that is.

  2. If you have no video/screenshot proof of ur bxt_hud_timer there is no other way of getting ur actual time and ur run will be invalid when submitting without any proof of ur timer.

Make sure you read: http://www.speedrun.com/hl1/guide/m3lo4 before you do another run.

Thanks for replying to my thread and thank you for introducing me to this awesome game! Your tutorial was really helpful! I already found the problem in regards to my demo(s) recording. I was using this bind: bind "o" "stop; skill 1; map c1a0; bxt_hud_timer 1; bxt_timer_reset; bxt_timer_start; bxt_record pb" which doesn't have bxt_autorecord in it, so that it at least fixed. I do however have one more question. After completing the run I will have multiple demos. How do I determine the time, including the loads?

Thanks

Your ingame time (no loads) will always be what 'bxt_hud_timer' is showing you in-game after finishing Nihilanth (blue beam appears).

If ur doing offline run (no video/stream) always take a 'snapshot' of the timer AFTER you killed Nihilanth & upload it together with ur demos.

e.g. http://i.imgur.com/gViBIDw.jpg

If ur online (stream/video) that shows bxt_hud_timer or using livesplit with 'BunnySplit' you do not need snapshot proof of the timer.

If you want to know your time including loads (which you don't need but looks nice on leaderboards) check real time with livesplit
