Where should I start?

Hello! I'm extremely new to the speedrunning community... as in, I've never done a speedrun in my life. I want to start, and I've kind of started with Super Mario Sunshine, but, that one might be a beast for a later day. I'm looking for something small, and, for the lack of a better word, "easy". The systems I have are NES, SEGA Genesis, SNES, N64, PS1, SEGA Dreamcast, PS2, GameCube, GBA, and Wii. And, hopefully, soon I'll have an original Xbox. I understand that speedruns take a lot of time, energy, and work, so I'm looking for a game that will help me prepare for that sort of thing. What would be a good game for me to start speedrunning that's not too intimidating, and I can pick up somewhat quickly? Thank you, and have a good day.

Hey! :D Don't worry everyone starts somewhere! Maybe one day, you'll hold a WR! If you're just starting I'd suggest point and click style games. Just as a starting point. They are simplistic and easy to learn! :) Though I'm not really sure what games I'd suggest afterward. Considering your number of consoles though, it shouldn't take you long to find something you enjoy! Good luck have fun and as always happy gaming!

Point and click games I'd suggest for starters. RiddleSchool http://www.speedrun.com/riddle_school Submachine http://www.speedrun.com/submachine Daymare Town http://www.speedrun.com/dmt

Start with a small game you like then.

Welcome TSM :D If you have an Android device, a nice game to possibly start with could be this: http://www.speedrun.com/Speed_Run It has an ingame timer, and is very easy to get the hang of

Generic response: run a game you love to play for hours!

My response: Kirby's Dreamland, it's shorts, easy to learn but hard to master, and has a big community

The thing about easy runs is that, the more you practice your game, the more you'll realise how big of an asshole your game is. It might start out easy, but eventually it's going to be nearly impossible to save those precious frames.

So, pick something you like, that you won't mind giving up casually forever. You probably won't see the game in the same light any more after.
