Video requirements?

So, I don't have a capture card or any of that fancy stuff. If I record it all ghetto-like with a camera facing the screen could my run still be accepted? I've always wanted to run some od my favorite games but I just dont have the money to pay for equipment, plus I have a mac with no hdmi port or even usb ports. Just need to know the requirements in terms of videos, and getting a legit timer. Basically, I'm broke and I wanna be on a leaderboard. Help!

Quality of the video is irrelevant. "Ghetto-like" recordings are fine. An onscreen timer is helpful, but by no means required.

By the way, you should probably ask the community for your game. What I said really should be true for 99.99% of cases, but there's the possibility that the mods for your game do have more stringent rules, and it's the mods for the game that decide this kind of thing.

^ Basically this. At the end of the day, it's the moderators of your game who decide the rules, including video evidence. If your game uses an ingame timer, then it's well worth making sure that the timer is visible in your video, even if it's low-quality. If your game goes by ingame time and the timer is impossible to discern in the video, that is more than sufficient grounds to reject a submission.
