You need to download a timer. The most common one is Livesplit (a simple google search will take you to the page to download it).

A timer is manually stopped and started by you unless the game has an autosplitter for it (which is primarily only for PC games). Someone who knows about the game could probably give you more information on how to set that up once you have Livesplit downloaded and ready for use.
