All the other games in the series have it, I figure it might as well be a feature for this game as well.

Hi, guys new mod and mod of the series here. I have added Tales of Souls as a category. I hope you are still interested in running the game. As I don't have the game any help in timing rules and categories would be appreciated.

The arcade mode in this game is called "Quick Play mode" it doesn't have an in game timer like all the other games. So Real time would be needed and have a rule set similar to the other games. The sooner We can get Quick play mode added to the leaderboard the better.

@orkybork I think he meant Tales of Souls which is essentially the arcade mode of this game which has since been added

I can add that as it is different from Tales of Souls and like your traditional arcade.

For details, SC3 has four separate playable modes: Tales of Souls, Chronicles of the Sword, World Competition, and Soul Arena.

Tales of the Souls was created to replace Arcade Mode for SC3. It's like an Arcade Mode but with a more in-depth story and somewhat interactive cutscenes.

Chronicles of the Sword is my baby, of course, the Tactical RPG minigame starring your custom characters and the reason I registered this game here to begin with.

World Competition is a simulation of a tournament or league play; oddly, it is only single player, so you're playing lots of matches in a row against AI opponents in an attempt to become a 'champion'. The stated goal is to win 12 competitions in a row. It's the mode I've done the least with; it seems daunting but each 'tournament' would still only be about 7 matches, so a true '100%' run where you have to win all 12 competitions would not be as long as it might appear.

Soul Arena has two main sections: Quick Play and Missions. 'Quick Play' is really a traditional 'Arcade' fighting game experience, just 8 straight battles against random foes, ending with normal boss Abyss and showing only the generic destruction of Abyss after you beat him and then ending the mode. As @orkybork noted there is no timing on this Arcade Mode in-game so RTA would be needed.

There are 12 'Missions' of 3 different difficulties (Easy, Normal, Hard), which are quick matches with unique objectives: Soul Smash (knock enemies into walls), Coin Collector (steal coins from enemies), Turntable (fight a foe on a revolving floor that constantly threatens to throw you off), Blast Chase (hit an enemy to give them the bomb and keep away until they explode), Dancing Statue (fight a giant statue), Wisp Shoot (use Soul Charge to win), Sudden Death Rally (one-hit KO battles), Survival (fight endless enemies until death), Scorer (Fight endless enemies for a set time), Hard Workers (fight the three Shop Girls, who spend a lot of time running all around the arena like Sonic the Hedgehog), Beloved (a fancy title for a battle against Raphael and, at higher difficulty, Amy), and Final Battle (fight the ultimate Secret Boss, Night Terror). All of those except Coin Collector, Survival and Scorer actually track the time it takes to clear them, so you could use TA to track those easily if you wanted to add them. Coin Collector has a set number of battles, so you could use RTA to make a leaderboard for them, too, but because Scorer has a set time limit and Survival goes until you lose, they would not be appropriate modes for leaderboards on a speedrun site.

I see quick play is noe a category. Can the rules be refined to include number of matches, difficulty, weapon or no, etc

Utah, USA

If you play with the rules in game, Difficulty: Normal, Rounds: 2, Time, 50, and Weapon: No are green while the rest are white; meaning those are the default options. Unless some players want some particularly different rules for specific speedruns, considering the numbers, we should probably use those settings for the 'base' speedrun categories. I'll see if I can make that more explicit in the category

Cool, thanks kain!

SC3 Save File

After years of putting it off, I've finally completed an emu save file with a (nearly) fully-unlocked save of SC3. It has all classes and their styles unlocked, all weapons save the joke and ancient weapons (meaningless in Speedruns), and all equipment so fully customizable characters can be created
