Currently, icons are limited to about 18x18 in size, which can cause pictures with even a few details to look very blurred or even unrecognizable compared to the original.

I feel that a size of 64x64 would be the best compromise between quality and file size/bandwidth usage, but in the end, that's up to the site admins to decide.

Do you mean the donator Icons? you're free to upload a higher resolution one, it'll load as the high res one, just scaled down by your browser to the correct size. afaik everything (beside game covers) on the site works this way.

When I right-click my donor icon and click "Open Image in New Tab", it'll open an 18x18 image, but if you open, for example, the icon for a Discord link (there's one under my name), it's a 64x64 image, and it looks quite sharp on the actual site, too, even though the two icons are pretty much the same size. The icon I uploaded was 172x172, and was much sharper than it is on the site.

So I might be wrong, but it looks like the site is taking the icon I upload, shrinking it down to about 18x18 and saving THAT as my donor icon. So I guess what I want is for this icon and all the other icons that get shrunk down, such as the 1st-4th place trophy icons to be saved and shown on the site in 64x64 resolution rather than 18x18, but for the size to be the same.
